While a good movie overall, there were some glaring weaknesses. The musical score was terrible IMO. Yes, there were flashes of the old Jurassic Park theme which was a nice throw-back, but the score went to whimsical pieces in tense moments and seemed confused at times as to what the audience was supposed to be experiencing. The CGI seemed to be incomplete in a few spots, drawing me out of the overall experience. Walking out of the packed theater, people were laughing at the effects and how bad they looked at times. Not a good thing. The Pterodactyls were a little cheesy. While some were big and menacing, it all too often looked a little off.
The acting was good, and the pacing was well done. Indominus Rex was a great villain. The character banter was fun and added a good levity to the film (too bad the score didn't follow suit). While a good popcorn flick, it could have been better with just a little more polish in the right places.

Polish? This is a summer Hollywood blockbuster, who needs polish? Just make a bucket of money and rush it to blu ray, who cares how good it is?

Walking out of the packed theater, people were laughing at the effects and how bad they looked at times. Weird. My packed audience gave Jurassic World a standing ovation. Then again... I saw it in the ghetto $5 theater with a bunch of children and teenagers on summer vacation. Anyway... Jurassic World is the worst and best movie of the summer. It has such a ridiculous desire to crowd please that it's the most predictable blockbuster in recent memory. On the other hand, everything you want to see you will see - within reason, of course. If you wanna see Chris Pratt ejaculate on Bryce Dallas Howard's face you're out of luck. There's other strength and weaknesses. The script is very meaty. There's children on vacation who are in peril. There's the evil corporation who risk people's lives for profits. There's the villain who wants to militarize the dinosaurs - I shit you not. They even set up a sequel with this premise. And of course, there's the romantic banter between the two leads. And I'm only scratching the surface. I haven't even gone into detail about the divorcing parents, Jake Johnson (of New Girl) as Jeff Goldblum and Chris Pratt's pet raptors. Overall, it's impossible to be bored by Jurassic World. There's so much going on that you'll be entertained during the entire running time. But there's also critical flaws. The effects aren't as consistent as they should be. Chris Pratt isn't entirely convincing as a serious actor. He'll get there eventually. He's just in rookie mode now. And Michael Giacchino - one of the best composers of the 21st century - runs into a few bumps in the road. He was probably intimidated to follow in John Williams footsteps. They probably should have hired Alan Silvestri instead. Nonetheless, there's more pro's than con's. Jurassic World delivers the goods and it'll probably be remembered as one of the most fun movies of 2015. Don't nitpick it. Don't waste your time comparing it to the original. Just sit back and enjoy what it has to offer. A says Doomsday

I ... enjoyed this movie.
I did not enjoy Bryce's character, and I did not enjoy Chris Pratt choosing her in the end when all of her actions were driven by money at the cost of her family interaction and human lives. I found her obnoxious, stubborn, and the very human face of a soulless corporation that cared about the bottom line, not people.
Chris Pratt thought he was John McClane in this movie - he wasn't really funny, and I think funny is what gives him charm. Seeing him purely as an action hero wasn't terrible, but I just can't really take him seriously as the complete badass type, and it took me out of the film a bit.
The action here was pretty great. We had a lot of spectacular shots of the island and some various dino battles and encounters. Despite seeing previews 4,203 times, there was still a lot in the film that was not shown in trailers. I will say that I tripped across a spoiler about the ending months ago, and it proved true, but I am really glad it did. Super cool ending.
The antagonist here ... he got to show off some cool "powers," but I feel like the director was heralded as so much of as a fan as the original that I would have liked to see him bring some cleverness to this film with some really tense scenes. I remember the scenes from the first film - the vibrating water in the cup during the rainstorm, Laura Dern restoring the power, Lex in the kitchen with the raptors, and more. They made for some extremely tense and scary scenes, and the dinosaurs were almost a face of horror. Here, they were a total commodity, and I feel like everything involving them could have been a little smarter, and interactions with the hybrid dinosaur better. I also found the whole scene while watching the security team discover the beacon a bit contrived, as Chris Pratt just explained everything in quick and short bursts like he was a damn psychic.
This could have been a stronger film, and I felt the characters and suspense here much flatter than the original, but this certainly beats out the second and third films.
7/10 (good movie)

She did redeem herself throughout the course of the movie. I'll give him another chance, but yeah, he's better for comedy. Yup. The original Jurassic Park had that girl screaming every 5 seconds and a half-assed script. You should probably re-watch it. It was easy to beat the other sequels. They were terrible. Although the T-Rex in San Diego (Burbank) is still the highlight of the franchise.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the redemption part - she was forced to survive and latched on to Chris Pratt. I didn't see any real personality/convictions change there, just doing the best thing she could to survive.
And I remember Lex screaming incessantly, I still have the opinion I have about the original.

She was forced to survive and latched on to Chris Pratt. 1. She didn't abandon her nephews when she found them. She wasn't an asshole like Mr. Military Man. 2. She didn't take unnecessary risks like Mr. Wannabe Pilot. 3. She rescued Chris Pratt when he was about to become the new Ms. British Nanny. 4. After everyone failed - including Chris Pratt - she saved the day by unleashing a fan favorite character. And YES, it was the same character from Part 1. The Lost World and Jurassic Park III took place on the second island.

Just saw Jurassic World and it was amazing!!! warning spoilers ahead so stop reading if you haven't seen it!!
I noticed the T-Rex at the end had the same scars from the original "Jurassic Park" so I googled it to see and on the official website it was the T-Rex from the original which makes the final fight way more epic! She's still Queen baby!!
Overall it was not as good as the original but it worked great as a monster flick!

I certainly can't say I was bored in this movie because I wasn't. It's non-stop dinosaur rampage. It's also the dumbest movie I've seen in a long, long time. Check your brain at the door because this movie is an insult to however you were raised. The reviews for this movie have to be so simple because it's such a simple, ludicrous movie. Jurassic World opens, JW needs new attractions, they splice the genes of *shudders* a cuttlefish and a tree frog which gives this new dino the ability to camouflage and also detect thermal heat signatures (not kidding), what could go wrong? This is an entertaining, brain dead movie. I can almost guarantee that you'll have a good time (or at the least a somewhat decent time) but don't expect much from it because under the surface is a whole lotta nothing. Seriously I'm still getting over how dumb this movie was.

You can't praise one movie and criticize another for the same exact thing.

Yes, it was smart, exciting and didn't insult the audience. There was tension built around more than just continuous dinosaur attacks. Jurassic World had dinosaurs literally talking to each other, forging alliances and double crosses like Frank Underwood and let's not forget the all-powerful dinosaur that can camouflage, sense thermal radiation and hide from cameras and heat sensors. It's a dinosaur movie meant for the Transformers crowd, something that takes the bare minimum of thought and investment.

Newman from Seinfeld turned off the entire security system to steal an embryo when all he needed was a key card and to switch off the cameras. Everything that happened in Jurassic Park was a result of a ridiculous premise. The park wasn't even open for business. There was like 10 people there. Any idiot could have stolen those embryos without freeing every dinosaur in the park.

If you want to talk about the flaws in Jurassic Park we can make a thread to do it. The foreshadowing of 13 year old Alex being a computer hacker? Yes, as convenient as it is ridiculous. There are a few little plot points that are made for the sake of convenience in what is an overall very effective story. To keep on point though Jurassic World is this huge, lumbering thing with really no point other than to rehash the original as best it can while introducing a handful of other dinosaurs, made up or otherwise. If you really do want to go tit for tat with the original Jurassic Park then I'll end it here; the scene in Jurassic World where the two boys magically start the original Jurassic Park jeep with a battery and a line of 'remember that time we worked on grandpa's car?' dialogue is worse than anything, ANYTHING you can whip up from Jurassic Park. A-NY-THING. I'm sorry but the more you defend Jurassic World the worse it gets for me.

I get my own judgment.

What's there to think about? Colin Trevorrow has only directed two movies, Jurassic World and the indie comedy Safety Not Guaranteed. Steven Spielberg took a HUGE risk in hiring this guy and he's not even returning for the sequel. So people are speculating that Trevorrow made Jurassic World as a satire about Hollywood. Everything you complained about - taking Jurassic Park and giving it genetically engineered dinosaurs to spice things up - is exactly how Hollywood operates. Everything about this movie, from the world to the story to the characters are a perfect parallel to everyone who's running Hollywood right now. I'm not speaking to any of those actions - she did what was needed to survive and help the boys and Chris Pratt once shit went down and didn't run away in the face of danger, sure, but everything about her character before then sat with me much heavier than that and didn't redeem her in my eyes. You weren't supposed to like her character in the beginning. That's what makes her arc so interesting. She went from the bitch to the savior and her reward was Chris Pratt's penis.
