Saw this yesterday. The quick version: I liked it. It's the first good Jurassic Park sequel we've gotten (about damn time). Colin Trevorrow clearly is a fan of the original; he manages to pay homage to the original in quite a few ways, but still creates a film that can hold its own as a worthy follow-up. The characters may be thinly developed, but go back and watch the first movie again; it's par for the course with this franchise. The dinosaurs have always been the stars of these movies and the reason we go, and Jurassic World delivers what we want on that front. Like many have said, some plot elements are silly, but it doesn't matter that much because the movie is well-executed and entertaining.

I certainly can't say I was bored in this movie because I wasn't. It's non-stop dinosaur rampage. It's also the dumbest movie I've seen in a long, long time. Check your brain at the door because this movie is an insult to however you were raised. The reviews for this movie have to be so simple because it's such a simple, ludicrous movie. Jurassic World opens, JW needs new attractions, they splice the genes of *shudders* a cuttlefish and a tree frog which gives this new dino the ability to camouflage and also detect thermal heat signatures (not kidding), what could go wrong? This is an entertaining, brain dead movie. I can almost guarantee that you'll have a good time (or at the least a somewhat decent time) but don't expect much from it because under the surface is a whole lotta nothing. Seriously I'm still getting over how dumb this movie was. C so says Doomsday Eh, it was bred for the government. I thought that was obvious early on. Especially when they revealed it at the end.

Malcolm was there to demonstrate that despite what science could develop, life would prevail. He was the antithesis of Hammond and 'Mr. DNA.' You could not successfully predict outcomes which was demonstrated not only in what happens to the characters going through the heavily guarded park but also in the fact that the dinosaurs bred and later survived when they weren't 'engineered' to. If anything Ellie was the one wasted, she just dug through triceratops shit.

Regardless of why it was created (both reasons are valid) it still doesn't change the fact that the franchise took a step into the absurd. Next up: invisible dinosaurs that can travel through time.

That's fine for the first act. What about the second and third act? What about The Lost World? The character was never used to its fullest potential.

Jurassic World (2015)
Color me surprised, but this was a solid movie. It had above average action scenes, decent enough characters, but oddly most importantly, it was very low on dumb, stupid scenes that typically plague movies like this. I'm not sure why two kids would be allowed to drive among dinosaurs and into restricted areas, but that was the only dumb, stupid thing I can remember. Now some might argue the entire storyline involving the raptors was dumb and stupid, but I dunno, it worked out for me.
Ironically, I'd say Chris Pratt was the weak acting part. He does fine in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, but in a serious role he's seemed to have confused stoic with wooden and bland. Fortunately, the movie picks him up which is fun and injects a bit of creativity in a drowning franchise.
It's odd, but I think this might be the most complete film in the franchise. In no way am I saying it's a better movie than the original, but the plot is pretty thick and there's a few interesting ideas in here. My favorite storyline is Pratt and his trained raptors. The arc asks the question of the audience "Can raptors really be trained? Malcolm said that they can't" and toys with the answer until the end when it really matters.

Great gesture from Marvel Studios. Looking forward to seeing how Star Wars figures in on all this at the end of the year.

I don't care about the feminist stuff, I do like how they point out how ridiculous the rest of the movie is.

It's a movie about dinosaurs ... You think this is terrible? Try sitting through a Transformers movie.

This Tells Me One monumental fact and that is there are too many comic book movies and people are screaming for more. Avengers Was good and Like Avengers 2 as well. But do we need a movie for every Marvel character that would be an avenger. Even though Love Iron Man. Id be ok if we did Spiderman and Black Panther but why not just put some of these other characters in just Avengers of make them appear in Cap movies or Thor. To be frank batman vs superman could be needed badly because we are in marvel overload. Especially if JP4 The lesser movie can do this at the BO.

Fuck social justice warriors. Terrible read. Usually I'd agree that SJW nonsense is worthy of endless eyerolls, but the whole "your life as a woman isn't complete until you have TEH BAYBEEEZ" garbage is really annoying. I actually found BDH's character relatable and likeable, but I guess not liking kids and being focused on your career makes you a villain. And before anyone protests with "but the evil corporations, maaaan" I'd like to point out that the people in the park seemed to be having a great time, and without someone running the park and making hard decisions those patrons wouldn't have their awesome dinosaur attack filled vacations.
I enjoyed the movie because I didn't think too hard about the plot holes. Sure, I could sit here and list all the things that were ridiculous, but the movie was fun and it had action and dinosaurs and that's all I want in a Jurassic (noun) movie.

the whole "your life as a woman isn't complete until you have TEH BAYBEEEZ" garbage is really annoying. Was that really the big issue? She hadn't seen her family in several years and basically ignored her nephews at the park until the shit hit the fan. And it didn't seem like she had a sex life. I think "the babies" was a minimal thing. Also, if the idea of an overworked woman is offense because "they need to be in the kitchen" let's not forget that there's also many movies about guys who are overworked and ignoring the family. In fact, that was the premise of another Steven Spielberg movie. You may remember it from your childhood. It's called Hook. And finally, if these fake-outrage-women wanna keep complaining, let's not forget that the actual villain in the movie is a guy who wants to militarize the dinosaurs. So to call Jurassic World anti-women is asinine.

I didn't say the movie was anti-woman. Maybe it's because I'm more sensitive (because woman, lol!) to it, but when she was on her phone with her sister, Judy Greer's character made a comment that absolutely makes me cringe regarding "when, not if" BDH has kids. As someone who has heard that multiple times it really annoys me.
I'm just pointing out one thing that irked me in the movie. I enjoyed it, I don't think the movie is anti-woman.

Of course the movie isn't anti-woman. Shawshank Redemption, Lawrence of Arabia, Reservoir Dogs, now THOSE are anti-woman!
