Personally I was always partial to Eve 6's Here's to the Night. Sappy and shit sure, but better than most options.

This.  I managed to be even more awkward in high school than I am now.  I have a nice mental block for a majority of those 4 years.

I have no idea if we had a graduation song or not.  I spent the entire ceremony bullshitting with the kid whose name came after mine in the alphabet.  As soon as we filed out of the auditorium I found my family and got the hell out of there.  I didn't even want to sit through the ceremony, but I hadn't found my "I'm 18 and you can't make me do this shit" voice yet so my parents forced me to go.

One of my college friends alleged his HS allowed an open vote for graduation song in 2002 and he and his friends stuffed the ballet for an orchestral version of Super Mario Bros.' underwater level.

He couldn't produce proof, but the thought of that really amuses me.

If you're going to stuff the ballot box for humerous effect you can do a lot better than that...

High school shouldn't be the time of anyone's life, just the start.  If everything is downhill from high school.... thats a long time to go downhill.

LOL. I actually had more fun in middle school than high school, but that's cause my middle school was in the ghetto and something crazy was always happening. Brawls were common. Chick fights were almost everyday. People smoking weed in the restroom. A guy got arrested. Couples caught having sex. Two girls got pregnant. There was 15 and 16 year old students who were still there cause they had failed entire grades. One of them got kicked out cause he had failed TOO many times. Dude was literally driving himself to school. I could write a book about middle school - make a movie - and people would think I was making this shit up or at least exaggerating. But nope. I'd be like, "this all happened. seriously!" High school was at a middle class art school. It was fun and calm, but nothing too interesting happened. I have, maybe, 5 good stories about high school.

My 8th grade math teacher got slapped across the face by a student. By 8th grade it was tough to shock anyone, "we'd seen it all", but everyone was stunned when it happened. You could hear a needle drop. I wasn't a witness to this, but my woodshop teacher had a stool thrown at him.
