I mean honestly, what held him back? He could've pulled a Coppola with 100 times the leeway and just made whatever kind of experimental, independent movies he wanted to. But... he didn't. It's possible that he watched as that approach nearly bankrupted Coppola and didn't want to make the same mistake... I mean... The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark were back-to-back monster hits. Plus, ILM was the biggest effects house in the industry. I don't think Lucas was anywhere near bankruptcy. |

That is a good point, One From the Heart nearly ruined Coppola. But Lucas did bomb with Howard the Duck and it probably muttered hardly a ripple in his bank account. Lucas had a longer leash than Coppola for sure. He had more than enough money to finance risky ventures, and they likely would've been successes regardless coming off of Star Wars simply because his name is slapped on it.

We learned more about the Boba Fett movie today. Simon Kinberg wrote the script and it was far along pre-production that they had a teaser ready in 2015.
