At this point it would be best to bring back Keaton or Bale. Sure it won't fit in with the universe-building approach that every studio is obsessed with at the moment but it would at least give the fans something they want to watch. WB has shot themselves in the foot repeatedly over the past few years, it's wishful thinking to think they would chuck their dumbass 'universe' at this point but considering how they're doing two separate Joker movies that nobody wants why not bring back Keaton or Bale and give people something to be excited about?

I watched this while I was on the can, unfortunately it's just another video by a Dark Knight superfan who nitpicks things in Batman while blowing things in Dark Knight way out of proportion. I can make the exact same video about Batman, taking certain scenes and milking them for any theme or message I want to get out of it. Also much of it is just incorrect, like Joker being on par with Batman physically. And which part of the Dark Knight's ending was a masterwork? Was it when Batman tied up the SWAT team Three Stooges style? Or was it the video game walkthrough in the building? I know I know those are cheap shots, I'm only saying that you could respond to this video doing the exact same thing he does which downplays whatever you're looking to downplay while hyping up whatever you're looking to glorify. The interesting part is '89 and TDK have THE EXACT SAME problem. They are both perfect Batman films for the first hour. Where '89 sort of nosedives, The Dark Knight unravels when it decides that it's only going to play by the rules it established when it wants to. There's nothing wrong with potholes. However, when you base your entire universe in reality and being grim, then you can't have the villain's plan GO ABSOLUTELY TO A PERFECT T every step of the way, or have an ending that makes zero sense, even for the emotional aspect you want. There's issues with '89 too, but yeah, The Dark Knight isn't the megafilm it's cracked up to be. |

I just rediscovered a video I made almost a decade ago. It was made primarily to stick it to my friend who was one of the ‘Dark Knight is teh best movie evaaar!’ types. I sent it to him then completely forgot about it, then one day a couple years later I saw it had a couple hundred thousand views. Not too shabby. Granted it has twice as many down votes as thumbs up but that’s showbiz baby!

I remember the first time I watched Batman '89, and thought it was so grim and gritty. The last time I watched it, the movie seemed more like a toned down version of Batman '66, but with a bigger budget and moodier lighting. They're both the perfect Batman for their time. People weren't really ready for a dark and brooding Batman in 1989. They just thought they were.
