The article stinks so badly of bias against Kyle that it is pointless to read it, but sadly I did. With the exception of the Ventura case, everything else brought it is as mush a lie as the author claims Kyle's story to be. Everything is "so and so said that Kyle said he did all this" etc etc but no real proof of ANY of it.

I love how you just say the dead man is telling the truth. He is the one who is claiming these things, others are just looking for proof... and there is none. Kyle wanted his fifteen minutes to last to thirty minutes. Frankly, karma caught up with him. And we as a human race, are probably better off that it did.
Why would we cover up finding wmds? Why would the gas stations all around his hometown cover up the fact that local hero chris kyle murdered two car jackers outside their establishment? Why would the government ask him to go sit on top of the superdome and murder, literally murder, looters?
I'm not understanding your logic here at all. Burden of proof is on the guy with the outlandish claims, not the other way around.

As far as WMDs, I can find links that show there was proof and that there wasn't proof. I was not there so I have no way of knowing and most never will. Pick a side and hope you are right.
Everything else in that article was hearsay about a dead man. If you call that proof I would hate to have you on a jury.

Multiple magazines and journalists investigated his car jacking claim. There was no proof. None. Where is the proof he murdered multiple looters? The baby killer signs? If Kyle lied about one thing (ventura, proven) why would he be trusted to tell the truth in all other instances, in your mind?
And why 'hope' I'm right? Why would the official stance of the government be they didn't find any? Do you understand it would be in their interest to at least say they did find some, even if they were just 'barrels of x'? People want results aside from just dead brown people when they see the bills from the wars. If they found things that amounted to WMDs, they would have ran to the media to say 'see I told you so!'
I love your ridiculous passive aggression too. You must be a joy to live with.

I don't understand the infallible deification of Chris Kyle just because he was a soldier and was good at killing people. He was a human with flaws, and I don't understand how some people can be so blind to the possibility that he may have lied about a few things to make his "legend" seem bigger than it was.

I don't understand how people can take a no-name blogger with no real facts to back up what he is saying (with the exception of the Ventura incident) that seriously.
Frizzo is right too. He should know because he often lies about things to make them bigger than they are.

Because people today aren't required to fight a war. They sit back and criticize every aspect of a war without having to experience it themselves. America is so privileged that war's aren't even faught in our mainland. That doesn't mean that Hollywood, or anyone, should make overly-patrotic movies that borderline in propaganda. But to sit behind in a computer with a bag of Dorito's and put all your time and energy into criticizing every aspect of a soldier is ridiculous... and VERY American. Add this to the list of reasons why other countries hate us.

I apologize Frizzo the Clown . I mis-read what you wrote. But my point still stands. American Sniper is getting TOO MUCH heat.

From Letterboxd:
Finally. American Sniper represents the return to form for director Clint Eastwood that I've been waiting for in the gap between this and his magnificent Letters From Iwo Jima. Much like Iwo Jima, American Sniper finds him back on the frontlines of war, but this time, it's more modern. This is the story of Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper), a soldier stationed in Iraq who gained the reputation of being "the most lethal military sniper in U.S. history." The film follows his exploits in the war zone, interweaving tense and suspenseful action with snapshots of his domestic life back home with his loving wife Taya (Sienna Miller) and their two children, focusing primarily on the toll such a job takes on someone whenever they're not doing what they're trained to do. Among a few of the criticisms from the naysayers of this film is that American Sniper are the fact that it recycles a bunch of war movie clichés that we've seen before while not adding anything new and that it has too much of a "GO AMERICA!" feel to it. Well, to address those issues: we are now in a day and age of filmmaking where it's more about HOW you do something rather than WHAT you do, and in that respect, American Sniper is executed with the kind of expert craft and skill that easily manages to place us right in the center of everything. Clint Eastwood stages perhaps the most intense shootouts in any movie this past year, creating an atmosphere where we as the audience are just as on-edge as the people on-screen whose lives are at risk, showing that he's still got his touch at the age of 84. Especially in scenes where we see Kyle have to make tough calls with his finger on the trigger, Eastwood makes sure we feel the gravity of those moments. In terms of the emotional aspect of the film, that's just as well-handled because Eastwood and his actors are so good at bringing that to the surface. The way Eastwood chooses to handle the ending hits pretty hard in its own right. Bradley Cooper delivers another great performance as Kyle, finding the right balance between the stone-faced resolve of a soldier and the vulnerability that slowly creeps over him as a consequence of his actions. Sienna Miller may be delegated to a more typical "worried wife" role, but she still gives it real heart. As for any overt patriotism on display, I personally never felt that way because I was so wrapped up in the story and characters. To me, it was just Eastwood showing the experiences of Chris Kyle, but more importantly, what snipers and combat-ready soldiers have to go through on a daily basis and in that respect, American Sniper is enormously effective and (I have to say it) hits its mark.

The shooting at looters story is one of the most preposterous things I've ever heard. I mean, seriously? I reckon he was on a wind-up to see how farfetched he could be before people began to doubt him.

No coroners, no police officers, no gas station owners can verify his car jacking story either. But maybe the government did go and ask him to sit on top of the superdome and watch down on the people and be judge, jury, and executioner in the aftermath of katrina. Sounds certainly reasonable to me. Why send FEMA when you can send in a trained killer?
Guy had serious mental issues.

Cheney came to him in a vision commanding him to save New Orleans, like Obi-Wan on Hoth. It happened, bro, you gotta believe or you don't love America, bro.

If I had free reign to ping a bunch of goatf*ckers I'd probably gloat about it too.
Either way, pick the side of the story you want to believe, but ffs don't preach from behind the comfort of your keyboard to everyone else who disagrees with you. No one cares that YOU think Chris Kyle is a liar. Maybe if you had some active service experience you could regale us with your exploits. What's that? You don't? Oh I see..
As for the movie - Clint Eastwood returns in style. Good movie 8/10

He's been a troll for a while now...
And it isn't an opinion, it was proven in a court of law. Chris Kyle is/was a liar.

His interview with Terry Gross was really good, he avoids all answers of the 'tough' questions, but damn if Cooper isn't a likable son of a bitch.

American Sniper is officially the highest grossing movie released in 2014 domestically. It surpassed Hunger Games, Guardians of the Galaxy and, well, everything else.
