I think between Georgia yesterday and this nonsense that's pretty much it for Trump. Immediately after the election there was this idea of 'maybe he'll run again, maybe he'll retain his base, maybe he'll be a mouthpiece for Republicans for the next four years' but the past 9 weeks of him pissing and moaning followed by the events today which could only be described as outrageous and dangerous will probably be what drives his defenders to finally walk away. He'll have his rabid fans sure but any Republican with a platform whether it be a politician or media figure, they're gone, it's over (except maybe Sean Hannity). Even the Republicans in Congress who wanted to support and defend him are going to turn their backs. Nikki Haley couldn't be happier. I've been hearing people say this shit for the last four years and these craven idiots have stuck with this fucking guy through EVERYTHING. I'll believe it when I fucking see it. |

I'd like to believe that, I really would, but it's hard to see that being tangible even in this moment. Yes, this is the lowest point in a Trump presidency filled with them, but they've stuck by him through it all and just this morning were mounting a nonsensical objection to a fair election. These goons love Trump, and while you're right that some of them are only along for the ride as long as he can keep them employed, a lot of them also realize that no one galvanizes this party like him. Hell, has anyone ever? We're dealing with spineless cowards that might internally despise Trump, but externally will support his traitorous ways because it's what their constituents want. This is why we need to impeach him now and bring charges against him in court. That's really the only way we make sure he won't run again. Because while four years from now is impossible to predict, there's clearly no one in the party even close to drubbing up the support he does. I've been hearing people say this shit for the last four years and these craven idiots have stuck with this fucking guy through EVERYTHING. I'll believe it when I fucking see it. I think what will tip people over the edge is that it's going to become poisonous among Republicans now to back him. Is that principled? Not really but as the GOP higher-ups see more and more of their constituents throw up their hands and turn away from the chaos they'll be more inclined to follow. There are plenty of Republicans who have said 'eh I don't like Trump as a person but I'd rather have him than any Democrat' but now they're watching their own party burn. They're starting to lose races that they shouldn't be losing. And now they're seeing people on their own side riot. A lot of people won't tolerate it and they won't want to see a repeat four years from now if Trump says he wants to run again. |

Yup. They used some harsh rhetoric when he bragged about sexually assaulting women, when he sided with neo-Nazis, when he solicited help from a foreign government to interfere in our election. And yet...they never wavered from him. Oh sure, there are a few brave souls like Romney (how the fuck did we get to the point where he's our staunchest Republican ally?), but there are far more Linsday Grahams, Ted Cruzes, Josh Hawleys out there that will stick by this clown no matter what. Today is just another day of Trump for them. Now, Mitch McConnell did condemn Trump's absurd pursuit of overturning the election earlier today. Could that rebuke be what turns things around? Well, now that Republicans don't control the Senate anymore, McConnell isn't as powerful as he was either and perhaps even his words don't matter? I'd love to believe that this is the nail in the coffin for Trump, but looking back on these last five years I'd be naive to think it is. |

Yes, she lost her senate seat so what does she have to lose by doing this (nothing because she already lost it lol) but that's a good indication that the other cowards in the party are going to abandon Trump, at least on this issue.
