This morning I was celebrating the huge victories in Georgia. And now like the rest of us I'm just watching this scene unfold and so deeply fucking appalled.

I'd been saying to friends that we won't know the extent of damage that Donald Trump has done to this country for some time. Well, we're witnessing the beginning of that lasting damage right now.

So many questions, mostly pertaining to law enforcement, or rather, the absence thereof. BLM peaceful protestors are shot, beaten, tear gassed, shoved into unmarked police vehicles. Meanwhile these domestic terrorists/traitors have roamed freely throughout the Capitol for HOURS. How was this allowed to happen? How was the city not prepared for adequately protecting Congress and the Capitol when we saw these lunatics gathering LAST NIGHT!?

And the police opened the barrier.

Trump's latest tweet has me so fucking pissed off. He needs to be removed immediately from office.

If any of those fucking Republicans even try to, with a straight face, make an argument for him to be president after this they also should be removed. This is beyond political difference. This is the president inciting and encouraging a coup of our government because he didn't like the results of a fair and legitimately democratic election.

I think between Georgia yesterday and this nonsense that's pretty much it for Trump. Immediately after the election there was this idea of 'maybe he'll run again, maybe he'll retain his base, maybe he'll be a mouthpiece for Republicans for the next four years' but the past 9 weeks of him pissing and moaning followed by the events today which could only be described as outrageous and dangerous will probably be what drives his defenders to finally walk away. He'll have his rabid fans sure but any Republican with a platform whether it be a politician or media figure, they're gone, it's over (except maybe Sean Hannity). Even the Republicans in Congress who wanted to support and defend him are going to turn their backs. Nikki Haley couldn't be happier.

I'd like to believe that, I really would, but it's hard to see that being tangible even in this moment. Yes, this is the lowest point in a Trump presidency filled with them, but they've stuck by him through it all and just this morning were mounting a nonsensical objection to a fair election. These goons love Trump, and while you're right that some of them are only along for the ride as long as he can keep them employed, a lot of them also realize that no one galvanizes this party like him. Hell, has anyone ever? We're dealing with spineless cowards that might internally despise Trump, but externally will support his traitorous ways because it's what their constituents want.

This is why we need to impeach him now and bring charges against him in court. That's really the only way we make sure he won't run again. Because while four years from now is impossible to predict, there's clearly no one in the party even close to drubbing up the support he does.
