Well, the police of this country still don't seem to be getting the message. A black man was shot in Atlanta after fighting with officers and grabbing one of their bright yellow tasers, then running away. During the chase, the suspect turned around and fired the taser at one of the officers and missed. The officer fired back with his sidearm, shooting the man in the back as he continued to run away. The Atlanta Police Chief has resigned. It doesn't appear as though any official representative of the Atlanta PD is trying to claim this shooting was justified, but the Mayor is insisting that the officer who fired the fatal round be fired. There was no mention of that officer being prosecuted.
The BLM movement has a perfect storm on their hands. Trump has spent the past four years opposing everything BLM represents. The majority of the media is happy to focus upon anything that makes him look bad. The police of the US simply do not grasp the notion that killing someone for not cooperating with them is not an acceptable response, and are going to continue to over-react by assaulting and murdering people. The media are going to jump on every instance of abuse of power available, which is going to keep the BLM protests rolling. New deaths are likely to lead to more riots. If we're very lucky, riots will be the worst of it. If we're not lucky, Trump will find someone in the US military willing to send troops into cities against US citizens rather than resign in protest. There's no telling what that might lead to, other than a great deal of blood.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who give the benefit of the doubt to cops if there's any question whatsoever to their safety. I haven't seen the video but based on what I read and what you're saying it sounds like a situation where there was some conflict regardless of the reason why they confronted him in the first place. I'm certainly not saying it's right or justifiable, I just know that unless it's grossly obvious that the police were in the wrong like George Floyd many people will side with police. I could be wrong but based on how it sounds I wouldn't be surprised if people by and large gave this one a 'well he shouldn't have resisted' or 'well he shouldn't have stolen his taser' kind of response.

I suspect you're right, but that doesn't alter the reality of the situation. The police of other countries don't have to resort to lethal force every time a criminal resists arrest. They might beat the crap out of them, but at the end of it all the suspect is in jail, not a grave. I work with law enforcement on a daily basis. The vast majority of them have the attitude that it's better to shoot first to make sure they go home to their family. If that means shooting someone that didn't deserve to die, then it sucks to be them. While I can certainly relate to such an attitude, I know I don't have the temperament to be a peace officer. This sort of an attitude also doesn't change the fact that white officers are more likely to pull the trigger on a black suspect than a white one.

Yea he's such a fucking coward like the rest of em.
And trump walking down that ramp weirdly was due to his lifts. He's basically wearing high heels and he's not good at it. He tips himself over constantly so a ramp is his greatest enemy.

On one hand... The silver lining of 2020 is being an election year. The negative ads write themselves. On the other hand... Republicans know this and voter repression has begun. We saw what happened in Atlanta and we're also seeing the battle for mail-in ballots. November is gonna be interesting.

Whatever happened to the tried and true practice in America that rhymes with procrastination?
If we get 4 more years hopefully we do go backwards in time in some respects...

There was a curfew put in place Thursday night here in Tulsa in the lead up to the rally Saturday. So, all the Trumpettes camped out at the BOK Center had to pack their shit up and leave and come back the next morning.
Now, Trump tweets that he's talked to our respected mayor (not anymore) stating that there is no longer a curfew for his supporters. So, it looks like we're just going to have a tent city full of idiots on 3rd and Denver for the next couple of days. What could possibly go wrong? (Answer: probably a lot)
*edit: Not to mention he also threatened any potential protesters with violence worse than what they might have experienced in Seattle, Minneapolis or New York.

Our Mayor had actually built up quite a bit of goodwill due to his quick response to the corona virus. He even got some national exposure due to it. Then, he does this and throws it all away, making us a veritable hotspot that he had the power to shut down at pretty much any given time, just so he can have Trump's minuscule member in his mouth. For fuck's sake, stand up to Trump.

Oh man frizzo I'm sorry but Oklahoma? Never once. I lived here years ago, when I was in the Army, out west at Ft. Sill. I hated it, and vowed to never go back. Fast forward less than 10 years later, and my wife gets a scholarship to the University of Tulsa graduate program. We move here, we love it, and don't plan on leaving. Tulsa is actually pretty liberal compared to the rest of the state. Granted, that state is Oklahoma, but nonetheless, most of the time we really like it here.

Is it that easy to reserve seats at a rally featuring the President? Do they really allow people to reserve several tickets? If so that's pretty funny, I'm surprised nobody did it sooner.
Although it's funny to see AOC chime in, if people did this to one of her rallies (which they'll probably try to do now) she would blame it on militant white supremacists who are trying to rip our democracy down so they can install a genocidal authoritarian dictator and that sabotaging rallies is a threat to our republic and entire way of life.

Frizzo the ClownThe good news is: if he failed in Tulsa, there’s little hope for him. Sleepy Joe might have a shot after all.

The thing is whether or not they were scammed by a bunch of people reserving a bunch of seats online there would almost certainly have been a standby line to help pack any empty seats. If there were thousands and thousands of people waiting to get in they would have found a way to make it happen. At the end of the day it sounds like people wanted to stay home, even Frizzo.

Frizzo the Clown The good news is: if he failed in Tulsa, there’s little hope for him. Sleepy Joe might have a shot after all. The good news is that Democrats have kept Joe locked in his basement for the last three months. The bad news is that they'll need to let him out very soon and his gaffes aside I don't think people are excited for him at all. Hatred of the opposing candidate will only get you so far, you need to be excited about your guy too and if people aren't excited about your guy it's not going to work. Just ask Mitt Romney.
