Dracula DeexanDon’t be intimidated by the runtime. J. Cole shares the story of a swat team showing up to his house cause the neighbors called the cops on him, for just being a rich black man living in a rich white neighborhood.

Funniest bit about the CHAZ thing is while colossolly dumb, it completely triggered the right (as Evidenced by that photoshopped tweet I bought into, FoxNews, and Trumpntweeting about it).

Honestly the suggestion for changing it to Princess and the Frog is a good one. You'd basically retain the feel and concept of the ride without Song of the South anyways. I was always annoyed as a kid to go on Splash Mountain and never be able to find the movie in the gift shop. I was like where the fuck is the Splash Mountain movie I want to see this shit! I had one of those VHS tapes of classic Disney songs that contained Zippededodah so I knew it existed somewhere. Come to find out about Song of the South and it all made sense. I tracked it down online and it's pretty meh as a movie so Disney might as well just part with it altogether at this point. It always struck me as odd that they've been largely embarrassed about the film for decades and yet one of their biggest attractions is based on it. If they hadn't used what was already an obscure Disney film for the ride, no one would even know it existed. Silly Disney, you brought this upon yourselves.

So I have a question team. In your various sub-cultures, are the prominent companies, reviewers, youtubers, etc. being lambasted if they don't put out a specific statement about supporting the protests?

In a lazy attempt to be less racist, the band Lady Antebellum steals the name Lady A from a black blues singer who's been performing under that name for the past twenty years. Rolling Stone

There's no overt pressure but I do feel an internal pressure to post something. I got a mixed response for making a post supporting Black Lives Matter on youtube, with a couple people attacking me for supporting terrorism, but otherwise any social media posts feel like they're in their own disconnected bubble.

It depends mostly upon their social media presence, and whether they've got a history of commenting on such things. There will still be the occasional misguided call-out by people like Don Lemon, though. The lambasting primarily occurs when prominent figures/companies say or do something colossally stupid, like Don Lemon, Candace Owens and Starbucks.

This is interesting. Because the board game subculture is on a witchhunt. Podcasters, reviewers etc. are being attacked for not putting out statements, and when they do they are attacked for not being worded in exactly the right way.
There is one prominent podcast which has been very vocal about inclusion in the hobby, extending his circle of contributors. He even handed over half (every other week) of his very well-established podcast to two women of colour to host. But because he didn't put out a statement about BLM, because, you know, its an entertainment show about board games, he's being vilified.
I know that in the scheme of what's going on, this is minor. I just thought that this sort of vying for moral superiority was present in other fan/hobby communities too. I haven't seen anything from movie podcasters I know, or any backlash against them for not, so I was curious.

That said, positive things are resulting. People are being made aware of more diverse voices in game design and in the overall culture surrounding them. The discourse around it just strikes me as odd.

While I'm not as into board gaming as yourself, I do game and have personal interactions with people who are. In my experience, most boardgamers are fairly relaxed. There is however a small but significant portion of the community who just seem to enjoy fucking with people. They seem to take great joy from destroying something that has had a great deal of work poured into it, especially if they can do so anonymously. It has nothing to do with personal grievances or politics. They're just assholes. I suspect that most of this flack is coming from the same sorts of people. They don't genuinely have a problem with anyone's stance or lack thereof on BLM. Trolls gonna troll.

Ian, there is a whole subculture of gamers that have convinced themselves Orcs are black and you are a racist if you use them as traditional Orcs.
I'm not surprised by anything you said.
