Did you see Man of Steel? Unfortunately. I just feel that at some point they are going to have to swing around to the hopeful and promising tone of classic Supes. The world needs it. At some point they may, but not in BvS. At the moment, WB is still determined to differentiate themselves from Marvel Studios at every opportunity. Since Marvel likes to keep things bright and lighthearted, WB will make their films leached of color and full of 'gritty realism'. They won't lighten up until the box office makes it clear what the audience prefers, and that could be a while. BvS is going to be a smash hit no matter what based on the characters alone, even if it's bad. The movies that follow will be the real test. Who knows, though. They may all do huge business at the box office, regardless of tone or quality. Transformers has consistently made movies with bad acting, juvenile humor, nonsensical stories that are far too long and needlessly included human characters, yet they are not only hugely profitable, each new one makes more money than the last.

I so disagree with everyone talking about the darkness of Man of Steel. It might be darker and more somber than the humour fuelled MCU, but I don't find it particularly grim. In fact I find Man of Steel a very hopeful film.
As for BvS, yes, the trailer has a very dark tone, but it's also just that; a trailer. Iron Man 3 and Age of Ultron had dark trailers too. Of course, I fully expect this to take a more serious tone than those films, but I don't think it'll the uber depressing ordeal people are expecting.

Man of Steel a very hopeful film. You must be thinking of Richard Donner's Superman.

Films don't need to go to such extremes to be hopeful.

That scene would work if it didn't look like it was shot on a cellphone.

I prefer the tone and style of Avengers and Iron Man.
I felt Winter Soldier had a dark over-tone but it fit that mood very well over-all in the film.
Ultron didn't need to be dark over tone through out the film... Especially if you see it in IMAX 3D. While watching the action I was like "someone turn on the lights so we can see what's going on"

You could have told me those were from Terminator and I wouldn't have doubted it.

When someone says something blatantly absurd, there is no point in arguing with them. Any response is going to be just as ridiculous as the original statement. It's best to simply laugh and move on.

*fist bumps* Kind of looking forward to seeing how BvS affects MoS's reputation. On the off chance that it's good it will maybe have people re-examining MoS and show that Snyder knew what he was doing all along. In the much more likely event that it sucks, it will either make MoS look better by comparison or it will launch a further backlash against all things Snyder and make it all the more hated on the internet. Either way, I look forward to the shitshow.

I personally have nothing against Snyder, I just didn't like MoS and frankly I don't believe I'm in the minority. If you like MoS that's fine, I'm all for having opinions however if you think it's better than Captain America: The Winter Soldier then I think your opinion is very, very wrong.

People who aren't fans of Superman like the movie. It's that simple. If you like Superman, that movie is a slap in the face.

If you like MoS that's fine, I'm all for having opinions however if you think it's better than Captain America: The Winter Soldier then I think your opinion is very, very wrong. I like Snyder outside of the DCCU. Even Sucker Punch is good, as long as you're watching it with the volume on mute and some Pink Floyd on the stereo. He's more interested in delivering compelling visuals than in telling a cohesive story. If the writer has delivered a solid screenplay for him to film, he'll deliver a movie that's solid. When given a script that's full of nonsense and plot holes, Zack delivers an unsteady piece that is at least flashy and interesting to watch. I'm curious to see if the dark tone that pervades Man of Steel and the Batman v Superman trailer is actually going to be the standard for the entire DCCU, or if that's just how the first couple of films happen to be. For a movie like Suicide Squad to be dark and brooding would be a big mistake. A story featuring an all villain cast will of course have some dark elements, but it really needs to have a lighter feel. Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn are not meant to brood, especially if The Joker is around.

MoS was too dull in color - and even though it had its problems, it was still better than the previous monstrosity
