You know that there are "biological females" being classified as "men" as well, right? Being a man does not separate you from this issue any more than being a woman does and does not invalidate one's ability to be an ally to the transgender community. Because men haven't feared and been subjugated, oppressed and exploited by women for thousands of years, or had to fight for our rights to be equal to them. We don't fear them. There has not, to my knowledge, been a single case of a woman being victimized by a trans person being allowed into a female space. Not one. There's founded fear and there's unfounded fears. |

I would argue that the ongoing campaign to class biological males as women is something that all actual women should have an outspoken opinion about, seeing as it is their spaces and experiences that are being affected, not men's. So many men seem to be clamouring to tell women to shut the fuck up about this issue. It's baffling. Btw, if I were to say the above on Twitter and it somehow got amplified, I would instantly be labelled transphobic. The online discourse on this subject is totally toxic and it's so sad. The online discourse on most topics are like this now. There doesn't seem to be efforts to raise understanding or bridge any gaps. Its about vilifying and gaining moral superiority. And with a topic like Trans rights, lets face it, there are a lot of people who simply don't know that much about this area. But its hard to have these real conversations when people are scared to ask questions or are attacked because they don't know or understand everything already. I wish people would ask themselves, what is the goal here? Do we actually want to spread understanding, or do we want to further the divide? |

Its about vilifying and gaining moral superiority. Pretty much. Delete your Twitter and Facebook, talk with people you don't agree with and try to understand where they're coming from instead of writing them off immediately and you'll be a better, wiser person. |
