That's too bad. I'll check them out sometime next week. Bandersnatch was a disappointment but the trailer for these episodes looked like a return to form.

Black Mirror seems to have lost its bite. It seems like Netflix is putting their stamp on it and trying to make it more accessible, or something.

Netflix original content struggles to be compelling. I may be forgetting some gems along the way, but only a handful of shows/movies have been truly solid. Something is missing, creatively, and I think maybe that is what shows when Black Mirror came over to Netflix. It lost even the .... feeling(?) that came with the show originally. There was always just this ... sense, this mood, this je ne sais quoi, if you will, that thread throughout all the episodes. It's gone, now, and they seem to be more concerned with putting well-known actors in their stories to draw people in, rather than some damn good sci-fi storytelling.
One of these episodes was literally "I got distracted by your social media app and killed my fiancee in a car crash, I'm going to hold this guy hostage until you say you're sorry."
What. The. Fuck.
Also, the more I think about the Miley Cyrus episode, the more I take issue with it. If her 100% brain was put into this machine, and the toy was the real deal, how would she psychologically deal with the sudden loss of her senses (aside from hearing/speaking)?
Striking Vipers ... "Hey, here's this really interesting take on the VR experience, but let's only explore what happens when the walls of sexuality come down," which is such a safe and blase topic. They could have gone a lot darker with this, maybe added some obsession/murder side to it, anything to make it dark and interesting.
This season just watered things down so badly, and I really couldn't be bothered to go through with Bandersnatch, which I felt traded some of the storytelling quality for the gimmick of being a "Choose Your Own Adventure" piece.

This season was so disappointing as was Bandersnatch! Striking Vipers was just PC pandering nonsense and didn’t even feel like a black mirror episode to me. Smithereens was alright but the whole episode seemed pointless to me in the end. The Miles Cyrus episode was probably my favourite of season 5 but I don’t really know who it was aimed at? It almost felt like it was for kids except all the swearing. Bandersnatch was better than season 5 but I’m not a fan of the whole choose your own episode with multiple endings. I’m not going to sit there and watch it 10 odd times to watch all the different endings so I feel like I’m missing out a bit.
If it wasn’t for Bandersnatch we probably would have got a better season 5 but it seemed like all the effort was put in to making that. Hopefully there is a season 6 and it is better

Hell, I still have no idea where the guy ends up. Reality? The game? Neither of those? They just keep going nopeeee that's not the ending sorry. It's what makes the episode annoying but also frustratingly intriguing.
