20. Captain Marvel - "Am I suppose to guess?"Maria Rambeau: You call me 'young lady' again, I'll shove my foot up somewhere it's not supposed to be.
[awkward silence]
Talos: Am I supposed to guess where that is?
It's not the old "where the sun don't shine" joke or everyone saying "your ass!" afterwards that makes me laugh. It's the silence and utter confusion this alien has at this human euphemism. And then the great delievery. 19. Ant-Man - Call the AvengersWe were all half-waiting for an answer to the question "Why can't the Avengers handle it?" in an MCU "B movie," we just didn't expect a character to ask it for us. Classic. 18. Spider-Man: Homecoming - PatienceOh, I guess it IS in my list. Well, here it is again. 17. Thor: Ragnarok - "Is he though?"Bruce Banner: You don't care about me. You're not my friend. Thor: No, I don't even like the Hulk! He's all like "Rrrrwr smash smash smash!" I prefer you! Bruce Banner: Thanks Thor: ...But, if I'm being honest, when it comes to fighting evil beings, he is very powerful and useful. Banner: Banner's powerful and useful, too. Thor: Is he, though?Would I still rank this up high if it wasn't a very popular meme? Yes. Yes I would. 16. Ant-Man 2 - Hide and SeekHope van Dyne: [hearing Scott describe his dream] What color was it? Scott Lang: Red. Hope van Dyne: Where there horses on it? Scott Lang: Oh, boy. Hope van Dyne: It's where I hid every time that we played. Scott Lang: It doesn't sound like you really got the gist of the game.
I don't usually like jokes that step on the heels of emotional or significant moments, but oh boy do I laugh at this one.

15. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Mantis blows itMantis: When I touch someone I can feel their feelings.
[touches Quill's hand]
Mantis: You feel... love! Peter Quill: Yeah, I guess - Yeah, I feel a general unselfish love for everyone. Mantis: No. *Sexual* love... Peter Quill: No. No, I don't. Mantis: [points at Gamora] ... for her! Peter Quill: No!
It doesn't help that it was in the trailer and it's very unfortunate this movie has a laugh track to step on its heels right after, but I stand by this being a top tier gag. It's basically the worst possible thing that can happen if empaths were real. 14. Captain America: Civil War - No Spidey Origin StoryKind of a weird entry here because it's not really a laugh out loud moment (although I did) and I considered using it for another list. But Peter is about to explain his origin story and Tony just interrupts him. A good joke to kind of summarize how they're handling the MCU Spider-Man. 13. Doctor Strange - Mister DoctorKaecilius: How long have you been at Kamar-Taj, Mister...Dr. Stephen Strange: Doctor!Kaecilius: Mister Doctor?Dr. Stephen Strange: It's Strange.Kaecilius: Maybe. Who am I to judge?Yes, we knew a joke about his name was likely to come, but the perfection of these lines of dialogue went a long way. 12. Doctor Strange - Cape wipes tearsFun fact, this was Cumberbatch's idea. Very funny. 11. Avengers - Age of Ultron - "Language!"Certainly a funny way to open an Avengers movie.

10. Guardians of the Galaxy - "I would catch it"Peter Quill: Yeah, I'll have to agree with the walking thesaurus on that one. Drax the Destroyer: DO NOT ever call me a thesaurus. Peter Quill: It's just a metaphor, dude. Rocket Raccoon: His people are completely literal. Metaphors go over his head. Drax the Destroyer: *Nothing* goes over my head...! My reflexes are too fast, I would catch it.You knew this one had to be in it. Who would have thought Dave Bautista would be so funny in this role?
9. Spider-Man: No Way Home - MIT TalkStrange: I'm so sorry about you and your friends not getting into college, but if they rejected you and you tried to convince them to reconsider, then there's nothing else you can do. Peter: When you say convince them...you mean, like, I could have called them? Strange: Yeah. Peter: I could do that?! Strange: You haven't...called the... Peter: Well, I mean, I got their letter, and I assumed that was- Strange: I'm sorry, are you telling me that you didn't even THINK to plead your case with them first before you asked me to BRAINWASH the entire world?! Peter: ...Well, I mean, when you put it like that, then-
*slam*
I can't believe I couldn't find this sequence online. I had to transcribe it myself. Is it me? Am I the problem? This is an extremely funny sequence, built up by the entire spell casting scene, only to learn Peter hadn't made a phone call first. I was cracking up all over again as I typed it out. 8. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - "My bad"Has "my bad" ever been bellowed to mean "Oh I'm sorry, I have lost confidence in you and you're going to die?" Well, there you go. 7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Playing catch with DadI think what really makes this one work is that they built up to it in secret. Before we know, they're having a father-son game of catch. 6. Ant-Man - Hood of carOK, I've never heard anyone talk about this or even reference it, so we're going to do that now. Maybe many didn't notice it? Maybe I have an odd sense of humor? Both possible. But no longer will I be quiet about Scott Lang sliding over the roof of a model car in an action scene while shrunk down. It's wonderful.

5. Thor: The Dark World - Loki is dead OK, hear me out. What is at the crux of the whole Loki conflict (Phase 1/2) from Thor's point of view? He has this terrible brother hell-bent on world domination and death, but also he's family and he loves him. The fact that Thor cares for him not only has no bearing on almost every other character, but recently Loki tried to help take over the WORLD. He is SPACE HITLER as far as anyone, including Erik, ESPECAILLY Erik, is concerned. So Thor walks in with a sad face and tells Erik that his brother Space Hitler died, of COURSE he's going to be happy! He throws it right back in his face! It's perfect. It's too bad it was in a bad movie.
4. The Avengers - Hulk punches ThorI don't recall a bigger laugh in an MCU theater viewing than this moment. I included the Hulk/Loki moment because it too was funny, but also kind of the same joke. 3. Thor: The Dark WorldOh, God. How is Dark World in the top 5 twice? Fun fact: hanging up the hammer on the wall was Hemsworth's idea. 2. Thor: Ragnarok - "He's a friend from work"Fun fact: I guess this line was suggested by the screenwriter's daughter, or something? Anyway, possibly the best line from the series. 1. Thor: Ragnarok[Fenris charges at the Asgardians]
Valkyrie: This stupid dog won't die! Bruce Banner: [makes up his mind] Everything's going to be okay. I got this. You want to know who I am? Valkyrie: What the hell are you talking about? Bruce Banner: You'll see!
[jumps off the ship](I painstakingly trimmed down the photo montage form seven stills to four. You're welcome)
Ehh, if you don't find this as funny as I do, what can I really say to convince you? It's this huge moment coming. Finally, Valkyrie is going to see why he looks so familiar and we're going to have a big Hulk reveal! *THUMP* That horrible, horrible THUMP he makes on the bridge. And the wolf doesn't know what to do. He just comes over and sniffs him.

Having just re-watched Ragnarok last week, there's SO many in that. I particularly like "Piss off, ghost!" and the ball bouncing back onto Thor's head.

Top 40 Greatest (Non-comedic) ScenesSo this should be interesting, because we're mixing quotes, with short moments, and also longer action sequences. It's very possible a 20 minute action sequence will be followed by a 2 second quote. Splitting it up would be clunky.40. Guardians of the Galaxy - Dance-Off/GOTG, BitchThis refers to the scene starting with the Dance-Off and ending with the GOTG defeating Ronan. I used to find the scene a bit awkward, but that's kind of the point and I eventually embraced it. Plus the Infinity Stone part is pretty cool and raised interesting questions about Peter. 39. Thor - Thor is not worthyI think there's a forgotten little gem of a scene here where Thor finally returns to Mjolnir, and in a pretty good twist, finds he can't lift it. He doesn't take it well and there's a nice melancholy scene of him sulking. 38. Iron Man - "I am Iron Man"We've come a long way, but let's not forget how weird it was to end the film with him revealing to the world his secret identity. It's very...him. 37. Avengers: Age of Ultron - "Peace and Quiet"Always thought this was a pretty great quote. 36. Avengers: Endgame - Thor goes for the headI'm pretty sure most of us didn't know how this scene was going to go down, but the swiftness of it, at least to me, was still very sudden and satisfying. Thor's dark catharsis in this scene is pretty great.

I agree with you on the thor not getting the hammer scene. Probably the strongest scene of that movie.

I agree with you on the thor not getting the hammer scene. Probably the strongest scene of that movie. Also makes the catharsis of him regaining the hammer in Endgame all the more powerful. "I'm still worthy"

35. Doctor Strange - Mirror DimensionI'm not that big of a fan of Doctor Strange, but I felt a nod to the mirror dimension in general is definitely warranted. The special effects and creativity that go into these scenes are dazzling. Specifically, for the purposes of making a list, the larger scene involving New York is the best one.
34. Avengers: Endgame - No, I don't think I willI like the quote, but I'm sort of combining it with the scene in general which is pretty nice. Though I have my thoughts on "passing the shield." 33. Guardians of the Galaxy - Prison EscapeVery exciting and filed with eye candy, and a few hilarious moments, to boot. 32. Avengers: Endgame - "Hail Hydra"I always gush at just how clever these two little words are. We've all seen many time travel movies and shows at this point: we know the tropes. One thing that comes up a lot is using the knowledge of the future to your benefit, but this is often done in obvious or lazy ways. In this case, Cap has to make the hard sell to just GIVE him the scepter, no questions asked. So to do this, he condenses everything that came out in Winter Solider, just like that. These two words not only means he's one of them and can be trusted, but there's no way he could be tricking them since Winter Solider hasn't happened yet. 31. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Dragon fight / finaleJust a gorgeous scene that's a lot of fun. There's dragons, arrow fights, fathers and sons fighting, and a door opening threatening to unleash pure evil. After being saturated by "European dragons," it's nice to see scenes like this with Eastern dragons.

100% with you on Hail Hydra. That was great and the fact that the scene was set-up to mirror the elevator fight from Winter Soldier made it a stroke of brilliance.
Definitely not with you on the Shang-Chi finale though. Thought that set-piece was mostly lame and omitted the martial arts choreography that made earlier action scenes so fun.

I, however, am with you on the Shang-Chi finale. The more time that passes/the movie sits with me, the bigger a fan of the film I become. And that finale especially is so exciting and awesome.

30. Iron Man 3 - Tavern kid
Let's start off with an odd choice. I always get chills at this moment. Tony Stark is a hair away from having a panic attack and gets this whopper whispered to him by a fan. It's just so irreverent and cool.29. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - I Love NYLots of cute little moments in this sequence, many including Spider-Man, but this has to be my favorite.
28. Thor: Ragnarok - Valkyrie's flashbackIt's only about 20 seconds, but it's one of the most stylized and incredible scenes in the franchise. It kind of reminds me of the creepy, slo-mo opening to Melancholia. Or a different take on an opening to Lord of the Rings (even has Cate Blanchett). 27. Avengers: Endgame - Scott's ReturnThis refers to a long scene, starting with Scott getting out of the Quantum Realm, visiting the memorial, but ending with by far the highlight, his reunion with Cassie. I shed a tear every time. 26. Thor: Ragnarok - Surtur destroys AsgardNot just visually stunning, but a HELL of a conclusion to the movie. They kind of LOSE at the end of this movie. Also, no hero is strong enough to beat Hela. (As someone recently stated, its a shame this amazing moment is stepped on by Korg)
