They game a very fitting ending to Captain America. I agree with most of your thoughts but I disagree here. These films place way more emphasis on the Steve/Peggy relationship than I actually care about and I don't buy her as the love of his life. Plus I prefer Cap as a man out of time.

They could make an entire series based on the insane fallout of snapping people back. What happens to the people who lost a spouse, got remarried and now their old spouse is back? What about people who reappeared and now someone else is living in their apartment or house? What about someone whose baby was taking a nap, they vanished and now the baby is back? There will be a lot of DNA testing to make sure people have the right kid, that could be backlogged for years. Insurance claims, inheritance, jobs lost and businesses closed. The entire world would turn into crazy town! If you really want to go down the rabbit hole on this, consider that the Earth would not have been in the exact same spot in its orbit and rotation as it was during the snap, so it people just reappeared where they disappeared they would actually just come back in the vacuum of space and die.

That would have been a better ending. "Thanks a LOT, Tony!"

Spider-Man: Far From Home 2019
- The idea of a school trip is a god extension of the high school feel of Homecoming, yet... it still lacks something from Homecoming's setting.
- Mysterio is done well. At first you really do want him to become one of the Avengers. But of course its Mysterio, so... you know that things aren't what they seem.
- I sort of like the illusion stuff, as it feels like something from the old tv show, but.... I also don't like it. There's something too ethereal about sequences like this that don't work for me. I want to know what's happening in my action scenes, and I dont like the idea of unlimited possibilities.
- The dead avengers tribute video is hilarious.
- Its good that they didn't dwell too much on the 5 year blip too much, but it does make you think that the world would be a lot more messed up. Things seem to have bungeed back to normal pretty quickly.
- A lot of historic Europe got destroyed. Yikes. I wont lie; I was a little annoyed.
- I liked the dynamic with Happy in this movie, and how he stands as a buffer between Peter and Fury.
- I liked the MJ interactions and budding relationship. However, it does rankle a bit that she just blurts out that she knows he's spider-man on a walk. Especially compared to Spider-Man 2 when MJ finds out, as that scene is the greatest moment in all superhero movies.
Overall, this is not as strong as Homecoming, to be sure. Its definitely more focused on spectacle than character, but there is some character stuff going on as well. Middle of the road Marvel.
7/10
Ranking: 1. Endgame 2. Infinity War 3. Guardians of the Galaxy 4. Winter Soldier 5. Avengers 6. Iron Man 7. Spider-man: Homecoming 8. Thor Ragnarok 9. Iron Man 3 10. Guardians Vol. 2 11. Ant-Man 12. Spider-man: Far From Home
13. Civil War 14. Doctor Strange 15. Thor 16. Captain America 17. Iron Man 2 18. Age of Ultron 19. Ant-man and the Wasp 20. Black Panther 21. Captain Marvel 22. Incredible Hulk 23. Thor: The Dark World

Black Widow 2021
Now into the newer Marvel movies, so these will all be second-time watches.
- I really liked the opening plane chase and the fight on the bridge. Solid action sequences that don't overstep their bounds. Unfortunately a lot of the other action doesn't quite match up as they either go too generic (car chases... yawn) or too big (fighting on giant, falling debris). But that bridge fight rocks.
- I really like that white costume.
- Florence Pugh owns this movie. Her character has pathos but is also hilarious and just constantly fun to watch. It was great seeing her pop up again in Hawkeye.
- Red Guardian is also a lot of fun, and David Harbour delivers his lines in just such a way that is unexpected and hilarious. Rachel Weiss has a few moments of this as well, but not as many.
- The movie clearly suffers from Fast & Furious syndrome, where protagonists seem to be able to survive any incident, no matter how brutal.
- It feels like Taskmaster could have been a more interesting foil.
- What is up with the end? It ends off as though Natasha is surrendering to the government, but then it does a two weeks later thing where she's free and clearly working with Cap's resistance. Did they just decide they don't know how to get her out of that, so just skip over it?
- Elaine from Seinfeld showing up in the post-credits was weird. That's a goofy character that should probably be TV only.
Its not one of the stronger MCU efforts, but it has some highlights. Its not overly exciting and doesn't necessarily fill in any gaps, but it adds a couple fun characters and some decent action, all told.

You think? i think its pretty on par with the first cap, but the first cap doesnt have Florence Pugh.
Then again, it does have Hayley Atwell...
Hmm...

It's the worst third act I'd seen in a while from Marvel.

Cap isn't great but it has a stronger narrative what with Cap's origin and some of the steampunk elements are kinda fun.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2021
Shang Chi is a solid action film with some definite structural problems. Lets take a look.
- First, the bus scene. This is a spectacular action sequence and is leaps and bounds the best part of the film. The scaffold fight is also really impressive, but for some reason this one feels more involving. Too bad the later set pieces couldn't match this.
- Simu Liu does a great job of carrying the film, and Awkwafina works very well as the trusty side kick. Her expressions really make me laugh.
- What is the purpose of having his dad be a thousand years old? It really plays no part and they are asking us to suspend our disbelief unnecessarily. Everything about his character works fine even with a regular human life span.
- The sister storyline feels like a wasted element. Their conflict has a lot of set-up but with very little resolution.
- In fact, the sister's character was pretty weak in general. Most of her dialogue seemed to be restating what we already just learned from the flashbacks.
- Its wild how this movie goes from being a kung fu inspired action film to a straight up fantasy. I... think its a bit much by the end.
- The ten rings are actually a pretty cool weapon and I liked how they were used during the fights.

I honestly think Shang-Chi might crack my Top 10 MCU's, but if not, definitely close to it. I think it's a VERY strong movie, from the character/emotional arcs, to the combination of kung fu and fantasy genres. The big climax is especially thrilling to me.

Eternals 2021
- I love how epic the storytelling feels, taking place on a grand scope of timeline and landscape. Seeing all those historical empires was rad.
- I like that each character had their own powers, X-Men style, even if some were derivative. Icarus is basically Superman... even to the point where they imply he influenced Superman. Which is sort of interesting. Its also interesting that a Marvel movie acknowledged the4 existence of both Superman and Batman.
- I really liked those gold swirl patterns that were used everywhere. Its provides a neat visual fabric to the film's aesthetic.
- That being said, I wasn't a big fan of the recent superhero movie trope of being able to create something out of nothing, like Angelina Jolie's weapons or Phastos' gadgets.
- I wish Jon Snow was in it more.
- The visuals of the celestials work really well here and add a lot of dimension. I really liked the visual of the celestial rising from the ocean, as well as the appearance of one in the earth's sky.
- The story has a lot more going on than standard fare, and I like how it doesnt shy away from exploring concepts like religious belief and conviction and how that can create conflict.
- The mid credits scene was dumb.
- All in all I think this is Marvel's best work since Endgame by a decently large margin. I wonder if it would work even better without having the Marvel strings attached and just being a story about beings existing through our history. Although the lore does add to the overall Marvel story, and I do really like the idea of Earth's defeat of Thanos making Selma Hayak change her course.
