Bro. What the fuck is this movie? Last time I let SnoBorderZero pick the movie. Kristen Stewart plays Princess Diana. She looks nothing like her, sounds nothing like her and acts nothing like her. She’s just there to cater to the filmmakers who must have been on drugs. The movie is supposed to be about Diana leaving her husband and the Royal family, but really, it’s just nearly 2 hours of Kristen Stewart having a mental breakdown during Christmas vacation. She talks to ghosts. She dances like Joaquin Phoenix in Joker. She almost has lesbian sex with Sally Hawkins. I can guarantee you that absolutely nothing in this movie occurred in real life. There’s even a scene of Princess Diana eating KFC. Bro. Get the fuck outta here. This shit is like some awkward fan fiction written by a 12-year-old fat girl. Hard pass.

You watched this instead of Titane. You have only yourself to blame.

Jesus Christ, Kristen Stewart sucks in this. Are you posting from the theater? Most likely. This movie is burning garbage polluting the planet. I’m sure Dracula & PG Cooper will jerk off to it. But believe me. It’s fucking awful.

From the little I've seen of it they make it sound like this is some career-defining performance from Kristen Stewart. I wasn't planning on ever watching this anyways but now it's buried in cement.

You’ll watch it when they have the audacity to nominate Kristen Stewart for Best Actress at the Academy Awards.

I was hearing that word about Stewart too, but watching the movie I have no idea what anybody is raving about. Every word of dialogue she says she belts out in a strained huffy whisper, and it never sounds natural. She's the one person here who feels like an actor playing a character and not giving a natural performance. I thought it was embarrassing. She's worse in this movie than she is in Twilight.

Why is everyone whispering the whole time? I can’t hear a thing they’re saying. Damn kids and their lack of vocal projection.

Spencer(11/13/2021) I can’t say I was overly excited about the new Princess Diana themed film Spencer as I’d pretty much got my fill of that story from season four of “The Crown” but the fact that it was directed by Pablo Larraín was enough to get me in the door given how successful he was at helming the similarly themed Jackie. The film is set in the December of 1991 when Diana is estranged from Prince Charles but not yet divorced and is arriving at one of the Queen’s estate to spend Christmas with the family. The film has been described as “a fable from a true tragedy,” which is to say its account of this particular weekend is basically fiction but it’s trying to act as an authentic psychological portrait of its subject. It is not, however, an entirely flattering portrait. In fact I must say that much of the film’s first half kind of had me rooting second guessing my sympathy for this woman as she proceeded to walk all over her servants and wallow in self-pity over what are ultimately a lot of first world problems. The film also kind of assumes its audience will come into the film knowing a lot about Diana ahead of time and if it weren’t for “The Crown” (which just so happens to have left off last season right where this film picks up) I think I may have been a bit lost. However, the movie did start to win me back in its second half when it became increasingly clear that what it was depicting was something more akin to clinical depression than wealthy self-pitying and I started to vibe a bit more with some of the techniques it employed started to come together a bit better. This movie is nothing like as good as Jackie, which is a movie that just had a lot more going on both above and beneath the surface and just generally interested me more but this isn’t a terrible companion piece. I’m curious to see if Larraín finds a third sad woman of the 20th Century to make a movie about and turn this into a trilogy. *** out of Five

Saw this yesterday...and I'm still trying to work out what I thought of it. Took my Mom, who was a big Princess Diana fan back in the day, and she really liked it. Which...honestly kind of surprised me, cause I thought it might've been too surreal for her, but nope. She enjoyed it.

I have a feeling she'd be one of the people going in thinking 'oh golly, a movie about the life of Princess Di.' And then she's get whispering Stewart with a weird jazz music score.

I kept hearing that score and anticipating it turning into a full-on psychological horror film randomly. That, combined with scenes like the pearl earring soup...I wanted more of that, too.
