Doomsday mentioned this as being a fun idea for a thread and I agree. Basically a place for us to share major or acclaimed movies we still haven't got around to yet. To start, I thought I'd just take my top five most popular unwatched movies per decade. 1970sSolaris Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom I've been slowly working down the list of the Criterion collection. Salo is the lowest spine that I haven't seen and frankly it's not one I'm looking forward to watching. Solaris is great though. Film club people, take note. 1950sThe Human Condition Trilogy I don't know why my brain instantly went to 'Human Centipede Trilogy.' 1godzillafan would be proud. But Human Condition is one I think I'll dedicate myself to in a block of time and just burn through the whole thing over the course of a week or so.

So I had my own personal list going and I used Letterboxd to fill in the gaps for the particular decades. I also ignored movies that I just have no interest in watching or if I saw a movie lower on the Letterboxd list that I consider to be a more egregious cinematic overlook.

1920sA Page of Madness (1926) The Phantom of the Opera (1925) Napoleon (1927) Greed (1924) Really want to watch this but finding the legit version is a challenge The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) 1930sFrankenstein (1931) Yikes Dracula (1931) Yikes The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) Yikes The Mummy (1932) The Black Cat (1934) So basically I've romped through the 30s except have seen none of its horror classics. Shame. 1940sRope (1948) Easily my biggest Hitchcock entry missing Cat People (1942) A Matter of Life and Death (1946) Not sure how I missed this seeing as I've seen basically every Michael Powell film. Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) Gaslight (1944) 1950sNights of Cabiria (1957) My biggest Fellini miss along with Amarcord. Good Morning (1959) Biggest Ozu miss. The Hidden Fortress (1958) Biggest Kurosawa miss along with Sanjuro. Funny Face (1957) Meh, don't want to watch this. Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) More classic horror. These are literally the only ones from the first page on Letterboxd that I'm missing. 1960sDaisies (1966) Easy Rider (1969) Shame. Planet of the Apes (1968) Neverending is gonna be pissed. Carnival of Souls (1962) Onibaba (1964) 1970s
Grease (1978) Neverending won't like this either. Fantastic Planet (1973) Salo (1975) Not sure when a good day will ever be to watch this shit. The Holy Mountain (1973) Black Christmas (1974) 1980s
Kiki's Delivery Service (1989) Castle in the Sky (1986) Possession (1981) Clue (1985) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) So basically I need to finally do a Studio Ghibli run. 1990s
Titanic (1997) You read that right. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) Perfect Blue (1997) The Virgin Suicides (1999) Girl, Interrupted (1999) 2000s
Howl's Moving Castle (2004) The Devil Wears Prada (2006) Twilight (2008) And I'll be damned if I ever do watch it. Pride and Prejudice (2005) Mamma Mia! (2008) Fuck no. 2010s
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) A Star is Born (2018) Annihilation (2018) Have more saved this because I'm so excited to watch it in the near future. Suicide Squad (2016) Not even the morbidest of curiosity. So basically I need to watch a lot more anime and horror classics. And finally watch Titanic and Easy Rider.

Twilight is necessary viewing just for zeitgeisty reasons. Finally got around to watching it this passed year, now I finally get the baseball memes. It's one of those I'd never watch on my own, but if some friends wanted to have a drinking night to laugh at it then that's really the only way I'd sit down and view the damn thing. One of them was on in a bar I was at in Atlanta and the entire place just kept laughing at it. The CGI was beyond terrible. It was sort of a nice moment to see an entire bar unified in clowning on such an awful franchise.

We should all watch Salo one weekend and come back to discuss.
Or even have an honorary film club round where we all settle on that one.
Who's in?
