I keep meaning to post my collection. I need to photograph it anyway, just to avoid buying something I already own. I did that again yesterday. If I'm going to take some pics, I might as well post them.

I had to stop watching as soon as the guy asked, "Why do people like Bill Murray so much?" People ask me stupid questions all day long at work, but that's still the dumbest question I can think of.

PG Cooper isn't a Ghostbusters fan either. It must be a generational thing.

I really like digibooks, but I wish they were the same height as regular blurays. Would make the collection look much better.

Us Ghostbusters critics need not stay silent in the shadows. It's really not that good or funny of a movie. There are definitely some funny parts ('And the flowers are still standing!') but for the most part it's not nearly as good as its reputation suggests. I haven't reopened my original Doomsday's Top 10 thread but one list I have in my mind is Top 10 Most Overrated Comedies from the 70s and 80s. These are movies that are deemed 'classics' but in actuality range from meh to just crap. Some of them are: Beverly Hills Cop Ghostbusters Caddyshack (probably #1) Airplane! Stripes I get a lot of people like Airplane almost purely out of nostalgia but Beverly Hills Cop and Caddyshack especially aren't funny in any sense of the word.

I'm with you on almost all of those... except Ghostbusters... that's the one comedy from that era that I think mostly does hold up. I don't necessarily laugh uproariously through the whole movie but there are enough other fun elements to keep it entertaining throughout.

I don't necessarily laugh uproariously through the whole movie but there are enough other fun elements to keep it entertaining throughout. I, too, must take issue with Dooms on this occasion. The reason Ghostbusters holds up is because of the humour. Even from the first scene... "GET HER!"... it has it's tongue permanently in its cheek. Murray, Ackroyd and Ramis are all in their element. Weaver brings the drama, Moranis is spot on as always and these comedians get all of these fun SFX toys to play with. It's just beautiful. Airplane gets a good rep for the gags per minute (I'm personally not a huge fan) but Ghostbusters isn't far behind. There's a wonderful sarcasm, irony or straight-up slapstick element to pretty much every scene. It's like these SNL guys got given the keys to the playground and made a joke out of every last corner of it. It also has the single greatest punchline in any movie ever made: Delivered, of course, by Murray. It's percent. And it's the funniest film ever made.

Oh wow, okay Wiydstar, I gotta let it digest a bit first before my full critique. Right now I will say your collection has some high highs and low lows.

Yes. It was simpler that way, since the main purpose of these pics is to keep track of what I've already got on something I've always got with me. I keep accidentally buying movies I already own, and I'm really going to need them soon. Later this month Half Price Books is having a warehouse sale not too far away from me. All dvds, blurays and even box sets are $2 each, and I've been saving up. I'll probably have another fifty movies added to my collection once I get back. Having the entire collection on my iPad will make it easier to avoid duplication. After posting these pics I noticed that I've got two copies of True Romance. Just one of the hazards of a large movie collection.

First, I gotta say I like the sections you've created. Awesome. I'm not sure what Degrassi has to do with Ghibli, but.... ok.
However, I have to shake my head at the blatant mixing of blu-rays and DVDs. Tsk tsk.
