Okay, so I ordered the Indiana Jones Complete Adventures Box Set because while I already own the first three individually on Blu Ray, I figured getting this set would allow me to save up on/free up some shelf space. Well, guess I should have done my homework on this one. It got here today and while the set is presented nicely, there's one major problem: the way the discs are packaged. I don't know if anybody else has this set, but the case is laid out like a book, and the discs are slid/packaged into each of the "pages" in such a way where you have to grab onto the edges and pull/push if you want to get them in or out. And they're in there so tight that I just know they're going to get scratched in the process. Not to mention fingerprints from having to grab the edges so tight.
What idiot decided on that packaging?
Yet another reason why I repackage most of my box sets with custom art designed for practically designed compact cases. I'd love to see a pic of this monstrosity you've been saddled with. Check out the pic on this Amazon page of the set unfolded outside of the box.

Yes, I've encountered crap like that before. They are designed by people who are more interested in making a package that looks good in an ad and on a store shelf than making one that is functional. I've got an attic full of boxes like that. My actual shelves, not so much. Ditch it and make your own. You'll be glad you did.

Yeah, I already have Raiders, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade each in individual cases. Each are the bare-bones, movies-only discs that are in this set. I just figured I'd try to save on shelf space by getting this and ditching those, but now...I don't know. Maybe I'll get a custom case for the KOTCS and Bonus Material discs.

Got the complete set of Batman: The Animated Series -- the regular release without all the extra merch and stuff -- on Blu Ray earlier this week for $39.

Now I need to finally just get a 4K TV. Best Buy employee Doomsday says wait till February. That’s when the new models come in. Don’t waste your Black Friday money on last year’s shit.

I'd seriously love to get a 4K, but can't for a while yet. I've set myself a number of personal goals this year, with various rewards tied to meeting those goals. I don't get a 4K until I not only work my way down to my goal weight, but manage to maintain that weight for a full year. I don't expect to get down to my target weight until the second half of 2021.

Whats the special features besides 4k? The expensive limited one I got had posters, booklets, and promo cards, and a cute little "coupon" to the Chang's grocery store that only works if you buy certain products and live within a mile of it. It also has an exclusive bonus disc with extended interviews with Ron Underwood, Brent Maddock, SS Wilson, Nancy Roberts, and Alex Gillis, and also features outtakes and short films from the creators. The basic package has two audio commentaries, the Making Perfection documentary (which can be seen on YouTube also), new documentaries/interviews called The Truth About Tremors (Nancy Roberts on getting the film made), Bad Vibrations (cinematography talk with Alexander Gruszynski), Aftershocks and Other Rumblings (on-set stories by Ellen Collett), Digging in the Dirt (special effects), Music for Graboids (discussing the score with Ernest Troost and Robert Folk), Pardon My French (a collection of censored for TV dubs), and archival features The Making of Tremors, Creature Featurette, and trailers for all the Tremors movies. It's also available in blu-ray if you haven't upgraded.

I'm not one that's too concerned if my blu-rays or DVD cases aren't mint, I mean as long as the discs are playable, that's what counts right?
But my latest Prime delivery was holy shit levels of crush.
I ordered Warner Archive's new Curse of Frankenstein blu-ray and opening it revealed it was in one piece initially, then I flip it over to inspect the back and I notice shatter marks all over the case and there are pieces already notably broken off. Concerned about the discs, I open the pack to make sure they're untouched, and luckily they're in good condition. The case, on the other hand, fell to pieces. While technically it's still functional, the corners of the case fell off and are now jagged shards.
Since the discs are fine, I see no reason to return it. I am however going to order a new case for this thing, because it looks like a potential safety hazzard.

Amazon is usually pretty good about replacing damaged items and they'll email you a label to ship the damaged one back for free. Or they could say don't even worry about sending it back. Either way they'll most likely replace it.

I've only started beefing up my digital collection in the past year or so. How are your physical media vs. your digital collections numbers wise?

Including boxed sets, double dips, and movies that are bonus features on other movies... I'm at about 1030 movies on physical media. My digital collection is... zero.

Wasteful.

Why do I need a digital code if I already own the blu-ray? It's never made sense to me.
