The Battlestar Galactica sets going from blu-ray to DVD back to blu-ray is making me cry. I began buying BSG before I had a bluray player, but by the time the last couple of seasons were out, I got one. I'm always on the lookout for the other seasons on bluray, but I'm not paying retail for them.

Has Wyldstaar not upgraded or was there some studio shenanigans? I own the whole series on blu-ray, so I can confirm it's all on blu. Battlestar came out when TV on home media was hot shit and they came out on blu super early. Original BSG and 1980 are also on blu-ray. The only BSG series not on blu is Caprica, which sucks for me because I'm the one person alive who enjoyed that showm I was expecting a reaction from you, but I figured it would be to the Criterion Godzilla Showa Era Collection on Bluray.

That little custom box you have is pretty cute. And it takes up less space than that giant book it came in, which I like to flip through, but is bloody awkward to display. I do want to do a little toku shelf for me to put up Godzilla discs, Gamera discs, Rodan/Mothra and whatevz, Ultraman, Super Sentai, and Power Rangers, but I don't have the faintest clue of what to do with that thing if that were to happen. It's just Galactica caught my eye and I was like "DAAAAAAH!" I had the whole series on DVD originally, but wound up upgrading when I loaned them to someone and my season 2 discs were lost in a move. So I figured make lemonade out of lemons and just upgrade the whole thing. Then I had to upgrade the original series, because it needed to match. Now I have a bunch of Galactica blu-rays on my shelf with Caprica on DVD randomly capping it off.

Another option is acquiring a multi-region bluray player. Caprica is on bluray is other countries. I'm getting one soon because I've got a number of movies on my want list that are only available in other regions.

Importing is one help of a rabbit hole to dive into, and while I'm willing, it's going to take something that I'm like "I can't live without that" to really push me into that realm.

I've been tempted to do the region free thing but, IDK, I don't want my collection to be full of spines with titles in foreign languages or those stupid stop sign looking things they put on all the UK blu-rays.

I'm not fond of them either, but there are ways of dealing with that, too. At the moment, about 10% of my collection isn't in it's original packaging. My copy of Silent Running came in this incredibly ugly case, despite the original poster art being beautiful- so I replaced it with this new cover-

I had the strangest thing happen this week. I came home from work to find a package addressed to me on my front porch. This was no surprise, as I'd been expecting my order from Criterion's latest half-off sale. When I open it however, it's not my order. It's a two-pack of The Shawshank Redemption & The Green Mile, The Color Purple and The Other Woman. I also find a packing slip from Walmart.com for these three DVDs for someone in Ontario, Canada. I have never ordered anything from Walmart.com, so I have no idea how they managed to pull my name and address at all, much less how they managed to ship this Canadian's movies to me.
Has anything like this every happened to anyone here?

I have a feeling Dracula is against custom packaging. As am I. I don't generally go out of my way to have custom packaging unless it's absolutely necessary. Due to the size of my collection vs. the amount of space I have available, I find it to be required more than most. Going to the trouble of printing all-new covers for movies that don't need have the amount of space they take up reduced is rare. The cover has to be truly awful.

Just picked up Full Metal Jacket 4K on Amazon for $10, looks like it’s still on sale.

Okay, so I ordered the Indiana Jones Complete Adventures Box Set because while I already own the first three individually on Blu Ray, I figured getting this set would allow me to save up on/free up some shelf space. Well, guess I should have done my homework on this one. It got here today and while the set is presented nicely, there's one major problem: the way the discs are packaged. I don't know if anybody else has this set, but the case is laid out like a book, and the discs are slid/packaged into each of the "pages" in such a way where you have to grab onto the edges and pull/push if you want to get them in or out. And they're in there so tight that I just know they're going to get scratched in the process. Not to mention fingerprints from having to grab the edges so tight.
What idiot decided on that packaging?

That isn't that unusual, there are a lot of boxed sets like that. It's usually fine.

Yet another reason why box sets suck. At least with other certain box sets I own, they either include the movies in their individual cases (Pirates of the Caribbean) or have one slightly larger than average case with each movie in a typical snap-in/out circle (BTTF, Ocean's, Star Wars). This book packaging would have been fine...if the pages had had the latter kind of packaging.

The only way I will buy a box set is if movies are in their own individual cases

My Alfred Hitchcock collection is the same way. The real downer is that those ‘pages’ are flimsy and the bottom breaks open after a while so the discs might literally fall out if I’m not too careful. Yeah, it’s irritating.

Yet another reason why I repackage most of my box sets with custom art designed for practically arranged compact cases. I'd love to see a pic of this monstrosity you've been saddled with.

If I'm understanding Phantom correctly I think they look something like this box set. Take a look at the photos and how the discs are housed: Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection [Blu-ray]
