^ Never saw it.
And how do you guys remember your first CS! reviews, do you have a log? (Dracula doesn't need to answer that. I already know the answer.)

Am I the only person who likes The Terminal? It's a mostly inoffensive and enjoyable movie, but a very minor effort coming from Spielberg.

Am I the only person who likes The Terminal? You're not. In fact, I think I may love that movie. I thought it captured a Capra-esque quality very well and I remember its charm really working for me.

Call me crazy, but The Crow is better than Dark City.
I understand where Dark City is more ambitious, but it's inconsistent. After building an interesting sci-fi mystery, the film climaxes in a bombastic and dumb way. After building to something cerebral, the film ends on a sub par action scene. I can't think of another film I've seen recently that built so well before coming to such a lackluster finale. The Crow, on the other hand, tells a much simpler story but commits fully and delivers well.
To be clear, I do enjoy both.

I found both to be overrated... Well, "found" is inaccurate, as I saw Dark City upon its limited cinema release and found it a tad cheesy and lacking in production value. Maybe a rewatch is in order.
Call ME crazy, but Clooney/Soderbergh's Solaris is a near-perfect film, and it has Cliff Martinez's score to thank for that:
I may be fighting a losing battle without Justin to back me up....

Maybe in an alternate universe where Spawn had competent modern CGI in it...

Dark City is a more atmospheric and involving noir than Blade Runner, and it contains interesting themes, ideas and visuals while not hitting you over the head with them like The Matrix. Not saying either of those two films are bad -- not at all -- but I just prefer Dark City because it's the more interesting and better-executed film to me.

Slightly? Maybe in an alternate universe where Spawn had competent modern CGI in it... Have you watched Spawn lately? It's awful. For whatever problems it has (and it does have many) its never as insulting or laughably stupid as Spawn. The Crow is better made than Spawn. I'm not disputing that. Considering the acclaimed HBO animated series that Spawn had, the movie is a total embarrassment. But... Spawn had the better "superhero back from the dead" story. Dark City is better than both The Matrix and Blade Runner. It's better than Blade Runner, but not The Matrix. You know, it's funny, even though I was alive and old enough in 1998, I didn't hear about Dark City until The Matrix came out and people started making comparisons. It makes me feel bad for Dark City because people will always see it as Matrix without the robots and action scenes.

I had a great first watch of Dark City, as I rented it on a whim and knew absolutely nothing about it. So the mystery involved was very much a mystery.

Which is to say it's adapting a better comic book (slightly better, both are embarrassingly dated today), but execution is kind of what matters when comparing movies like this given that neither are exactly Shakespeare.
