Any trust I had in Dracula is now evaporated.

THE LEGEND OF ZORRO (2005)This movie proved that Martin Campbell could still direct an awesome Zorro movie and that Antonio Banderas could still be a badass Zorro. But then you see "screenplay by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman" and know what went wrong. The villains were boring. The story means well but ultimately goes nowhere. It's a shame, really. At the height of the Pirates of the Caribbean craze, swashbuckling Zorro movies could have done well. I know PhantomKnight would have at least gone to see them. Squandered potential.

Somehow, I keep forgetting that Mask of Zorro had a sequel. Then I see double film packs with Mask and Legend and I'm like "Oh yeah."
Mask of Zorro was a really fun movie. I remember almost nothing of the second one.

Mask of Zorro is still a pretty awesome movie. Legend of Zorro, on the other hand...it's been a while, but I remember enjoying it just fine. Though something tells me that might not be the case if I were to re-watch it. I do remember the shift from PG-13 to PG definitely affecting things in the second one.

Mask is still sweet. A Zorro remake should be in the cards, who owns the rights?

Nobody really gets stabbed or anything, if I remember right. Just knocked out or dropped if they happen to be standing on something supported by ropes or whatever...which was a lot.

That is apparently a matter of some dispute I guess it's a legal gray area in which Zorro itself is public domain but certain elements of the character are under copyright protection. You can kinda blame Disney for this. They've been screwing up copyright laws for decades now.

I never did see the sequel, and I'm shocked to realize that Mark of Zorro isn't in my library. Another to add to the want list. All I know about the sequel is what I got from the trailer, which is that there's a little kid. That was enough to keep me away.

I never saw Legend of Zorro either even though I loved Mask of Zorro as a kid. If it's as bad as they say it is then that's a crying shame.

If it's as bad as they say It's beautifully shot and the action scenes are good. It's still Martin Campbell after all. But the script is lame as hell.

2020s social unrest has got me nostalgic for the old days... When black people being arrested and beaten in custody was played up for jokes. When inter racial relationships were still frowned upon.
Who better to skirt the nuance of police brutality, racial inequality, and black white relations than Martin Lawrence?
National Security (2003) - What the problem is?
I recall actually liking this movie as a kid... Zahn has solid timing as the straight man, and Martin was... Well still Martin. It's available on Netflix and I felt like torturing the female so we popped it on.
As a buddy cop movie - the action is amazing. The gun fight in the soda distribution center has great use of background foreground midground with bottle exploding and bullets flying through the air. There has to be at least 14 slow mo shooting scenes spread across this movie. The ending scene just keeps pushing the absurdity, the tunnel explosion scene is *kiss noise* absolute perfection.
Martin goes all in on multiple monologues, and boy do they fall flat. There are a lot of him just talking at nothing and no one in particular then he snaps back to the scene at hand and something is explained to move the plot along.
I'm gonna give this a revised 4/10 - the music from the early 00s... Is not good, even one half decent song would have elevated this movie a little bit in the cannon of buddy cop flicks.

Of all the movies in all the world, that was the one you opted for.
