"He's never fought us. Not us united."
Um...what was that Infinity War quote?
"He's never fought me." "Yeah he has." "Well, he's never fought me twice."

Norman Osbourne is in this? I'm 12 mins into this. He’s also in the Aquaman movie you don’t remember watching.

I also prefer the Whedon reshoots of Victor with his dad Whedon dropped the ball with Cyborg. I can see why Ray Fisher is upset. I woulda kept all the Snyder Cyborg stuff. The scenes with his dad at the lab (and that extra character) should have definitely been cut though.

I mean, if this does well, is there a chance they make more of these?

I mean, if this does well, is there a chance they make more of these? Very, very small. This would have to become a worldwide obsession for WB to bring Snyder back for another JL movie.

I mean, if this does well, is there a chance they make more of these? Not sure what "does well" looks like for a streaming thing. That said I do have a hunch that the whole reason they're doing this at all is because they want there to be some kind of way forward with the main DCEU continuity because the 2017 killed any chance of that dead. I mean, if this does well, is there a chance they make more of these? I don’t think Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot would do more of these. Affleck definitely seemed miserable and has other options to go with. Cavill, eh, we'll see how the rest of his career goes. Gadot though is still in the DC business and hasn't had a ton of success elsewhere, so she's probably "gettable." I mean, given that they were all seemingly willing to do these new reshoots I'm not sure it's really in "hell would have to freeze over" territory for any of them.

Gadot though is still in the DC business If Wonder Woman and WW84 are any indication, she’s not a fan of the Snyderverse.

That said I do have a hunch that the whole reason they're doing this at all is because they want there to be some kind of way forward with the main DCEU continuity because the 2017 killed any chance of that dead. It's pretty much common knowledge that they mostly made this to help boost HBO Max and post production has less hurdles to jump than an actual full production in the middle of COVID. This was something they had on a shelf and a bunch of assholes were harassing them about it. Snyder already confirmed that they just wanted to released the film unfinished, but he wouldn't let them. It was only when he waived any sort of fee for his time that they allowed him the money to finish it. Unless feedback for this is through the roof, Snyder is done with WB and so is Fisher. They may adopt some things from it into the main continuity (I'd like to see Harry Lennix come back as Martian Manhunter myself), but it looks like any continuation off of this thing is dead.

Snyder is a credited producer on both of those movies. And Christopher Nolan is a credited producer on both versions of the Justice League. Unless feedback for this is through the roof, Snyder is done with WB and so is Fisher. Snyder rode the 300 wave for far too long. The Flash movie will be interesting.

Hmmm, in a lot of ways this ways what I expected. The same movie but longer. Definitely more cohesive and with more room to breathe, but it's the same shitty story with the same shitty villain, just stretched out to four hours, which is way too long for something so shallow. The additions to Flash and Cyborg's story give the characters more detail, but also not enough detail to really rise above cliches. Darkseid is only interesting for those already familiar with the character. In this movie he's just a generic final boss who feels like a lame Thanos knock-off (and yeah, I get why this is ironic).
That said, the movie was starting to win me back with the climax, which is the only area I thought this version really improved on. Cyborg's vision is neat and The Flash's big moment combined visuals and music to pretty awesome effect. But then, the movie keeps going, with an epilogue that gets worse and worse as it goes. That added Joker scene is completely pointless and also fucking terrible. Good god is Jared Leto an awful actor. Or at least, awful at playing Joker.

Okay, so I finished this disaster. Second half is better than the first, but holy hell. This is self-indulgent filmmaking gone horribly wrong. This movie is poorly paced, the script is wooden as hell, and it's just too much of everything. There is so much of this movie that can just be chipped away to make it leaner, more efficient. Instead, when Snyder interpreted that people wanted the Snyder Cut, he decided to just release a Snyder Uncut. I was curious about what his version would be like, but I didn't need to see every god damn thing you shot, bruh.
The best possible version of this movie is a halfway point between the Snyder Cut and the Whedon Cut. Whedon is much better at expressing emotion than Snyder is, and the Snyder Cut has a dreary, robotic tone. The scene where Victor first meets Diana is a nightmare in the Snyder Cut, because the only way Snyder can think of for Victor to express his existential crisis is for him to be pissy and stomping all over the place like a dinosaur. Whedon let Fisher express with his eyes over his body, expressing his frustration and depression through his tone. Meanwhile, take the stronger aspects of the Snyder Cut and pear it down. There's a decent not-over-three-hour movie waiting to be whittled into existence out of both of these movies.
But what really irks me about the Snyder Cut is how frustrating it is. And the movie is designed to intentionally frustrate by ending on a cliffhanger the annoy the fans who will never get sequels to this thing. But that's not what frustrates me. As always what frustrates me is that Snyder takes a decent idea and just crushes it with bombast. There is a certain idea here for a Justice League franchise I dig. The approach is very much let the Avengers be Star Wars and let Justice League be Lord of the Rings, an expansive trilogy that's trying to be a dazzling epic instead of flashy pulp. I don't hate that. And I can see where Snyder is headed and think to myself "Sounds like a good idea, but I don't trust you." And when let off the leash like he is here, I get reminded why. And it's why I can't blame WB for butchering the movie the way they did. This movie almost demands to be simpler.
Is it better than the Whedon Cut? I don't fucking know. Probably. I know that by the end of it I really didn't care if it was better or not. I also know that I'd rather watch the Whedon Cut even only if it's for the same reason I'd rather watch Batman & Robin over Batman Returns. The latter is a bigger swing, but the former makes me giggle.

Yes and No. Adding the Old World’s battle with Darkseid was great. Just including Darkseid gave Steppenwolf and the Mother Boxes more context. Fleshing out Cyborg helped too. But... the story/script was a mess. You can see where Joss Whedon was valuable. It took Zack Snyder two hours just to set-up the Justice League. Even if the plan was to split it into two movies, there’s no first movie because nothing happens. It’s just exposition for two hours straight. And what’s the second movie? Nothing but action beats? Warner Bros is ultimately to blame. They should have taken the best of both versions and made a decent 2hr 30min movie. Take Whedon’s structure and just flesh it out with Darkseid, the Old World scene and Cyborg.

Yes. Fisher was supposed to also but...yeah. Of what I've seen so far, Affleck is still the best acting performance Wait until you see Fisher's powerhouse delivery of Wonder Woman's call to suit up "Get dressed" and he just walks into frame and says "I'm always dressed." Oscar worthy.
