We owe Joss Whedon an apology. He took a gigantic pile of garbage and turned it into a movie. Let me put it this way. In two hours, Whedon created a Justice League movie with a clear beginning, middle and end. In that span of time, Zack Snyder is still in the 1st act of his 4-hour catastrophe. How the hell did Warner Bros even agree to greenlit this project? There’s no movie here. It’s just the ramblings of a mad man. They gave John Ottman an Academy Award for salvaging Bohemian Rhapsody in the editing room. They should have done the same with Whedon. His Justice League may not have necessarily been good, but at least it’s a movie. At least it was something that Warner Bros could release into theatres and charge people money for. I can’t even begin to imagine the disaster of releasing the Snyder Cut in 2017. You thought Battlefield Earth was bad? That pales in comparison to this nightmare. Whedon rescued people’s careers. Ben Affleck would have been kicked out of Hollywood for good. We let Gigli slide — but not this.

I wasn't planning on watching this cinematic suppository for a few weeks. Now you've piqued my morbid curiosity, and may have to check it out over the next few days. There's absolutely no way I'm going to make it through this in one sitting.

I'm at work and I'm getting small pieces of it during breaks.
So far the recreation of Superman's death is hilarious and the song for Aquaman is painful. This is the type of shit that gets edited out of you movie because they were good intentioned ideas that just didn't work.
If people weren't so laser focused on sucking Snyder's ballsack during this production, maybe they could have hired an editor to tell him when he was embarrassing himself.

Lol, why is it in this aspect ratio? It was filmed for IMAX and Snyder's "ARTISTIC VISION!"

Lol, why is it in this aspect ratio? The idea is that they wanted to show it in IMAX at a consistent ratio instead of doing the Christopher Nolan thing where it suddenly gets bigger during the action scenes.

The official story is Snyder had a good experience filming for IMAX on BvS and decided to frame JL for it in its entirety, while it was going to be cropped to 1.85:1 for normal cinemas.
When Whedon took over, he dumped IMAX, switched the camera type to a digital with his own cinematographer, and just framed everything for 1.78:1.

It will probably make even more sense when he releases the black and white "Justice is Gray" version, which is his true vision, for real this time.

I've kinda always liked the way he does super-speed and force/impact for the non-Flash characters.

Oh my god, all the slow mo is killing me.
Like I made a joke many years ago whenever someone says there is a mythical Mission: Impossible II cut that's three-and-a-half hours long (I've always assumed it was a workprint that was never meant to be released) and whenever some jackass brings it up as John Woo' "true vision" I'm always like "It's the exact same movie, except the slow mo is much slower."
This feels like the movie I'm deacribing.

A lot of those reviews were from nerd centric websites, many that were heavily invested in the Snyder Cut (Grace Randolph, Comic Book Movies, etc). There are some reputable ones there too, and some are heavily positive because it's not as neutered as Whedon's cut while others are just going "Sigh." This feels like a movie where you'll either love it for what it is, hate it for what it is, or not care and maybe just pander to the crowd so you don't get backlash.

I'm at about the three hour point and I'm mostly... not disliking it.

I don't know if I have the stamina to do all 4 hours consecutively. Are there any natural "break points" anywhere in the movie?

I've only gotten through the initial Wonder Woman island stuff, and dear lord every shot is a minute too long.

This feels like the movie I'm deacribing. That’s exactly it. Only real difference between Whedon & Snyder is Darkseid. I’ll give Snyder credit. Darkseid shoulda been in the Whedon version. But everything else in Snyder Cut is the same but reeeaaalllyyy slow. It takes Snyder forever to get to the point. As I said before, you get to the 2-hour mark and it’s still in the 1st act. The Snyder Cut was unreleasable. Warner Bros made the right call. They had to fire him. Whedon’s version is the best possible product you can get out of this nonsense. Only thing he was missing was Darkseid. He dropped the ball there.

Just watched the Willem Dafoe scene.
Yikes. That thing deserved to stay on the cutting room floor.
