Would be interesting to see Scarface during a time when it was socially acceptable to snort cocaine in a theater. The "keep up with Tony" challenge.

I'd go with either Return of the Jedi or Scarface.

Sleepaway Camp. Or Psycho II to spite PG Cooper. Or The Outsiders, if I'm feeling nostalgic. But mostly Sleepaway Camp. Just gotta see the audience reaction to that movie.

I'm thinking National Lampoon's Vacation or Trading Places.
80's Chevy was something special, and drunk Santa Akroyd never fails to make me crack up.

I'm going to hindsight slot Battle Royale as a 2000 pick. I just rewatched that flick and goddamn do I love that movie.
Seeing it opening weekend with a Japanese audience would have been fucking amazing.

Couldn't finish the book and the movie only reinforced that I was right for throwing it in the garbage.

Seeing it opening weekend with a Japanese audience would have been fucking amazing. I'd be interested to see if some of the more absurd lines would get a laugh in the Japanese audience, or if it's a cultural drift thing. Example, that always made me crack up: Chigusa: [dying] God, can I tell him one more thing? You look really cool, Hiroki... Hiroki Sugimura: You too. You're the coolest girl in the world.

I've been suspicious about the subtitles to that movie for a while. Those things have been floating haven't changed since the easiest way to get the film in the US was a Korean import DVD, and they often abbreviate the characters names, so they feel incorrect. I think the film is long overdue for a fresh translation, though it's also possible that they're the result of the movie trying to abbreviate the novel as hard as it is while keeping the primary beats mostly the same. The "last thought" text that's littered throughout the movie seems like a promising idea that just kind of gets in the way though, as the movie is trying to be arty and isn't quite achieving it. I rewatched the movie because I recently discovered there was a new manga in 2014 called Angel's Border that is devoted to several of the the less characterized girls in the lighthouse, and I was like "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" and headed straight for Comixology and I think I owed the film a recent viewing. Might reread the book next.

Fantastic Freshman year bonding experience watching that movie with international student friends. There's definitely parts that are meant to be funny, but I've always been self conscious about this because of how I watched it.

The movie has a sort of intrusive sense of humor that takes a viewer by surprise, mostly because of Takeshi Kitano, who can be a strong dramatic actor but tapped into his Japanese funnyman persona for the film instead. The ending where he casually gets up after getting shot only to take a bitchy phone call from his daughter is hilarious in how out of nowhere it is.

That's a good pick. I might go Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Just to hear an audience lose their shit at the ending.

— I’d drag that fake Wu Tang fan Dracula to the 36th Chamber of Shaolin. — I’d drag 1godzillafan to the Bad News Bears Go to Japan. — I’d drag PhantomKnight to the Cat from Outer Space. — I’d escort Wyldstaar to Debbie Does Dallas — I’d join donny for Drunken Master & Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow — I’d get a contact high from watching Up in Smoke with SnoBorderZero — PG Cooper would drag me to Watership Down. — Dawn of the Dead — The Fury — Grease — Halloween — Jaws 2 — Animal House — Superman

I had Dawn of the Dead pegged as a 79 film, but if we can find screenings in 78 I'd see the shit out of that movie.

I had Dawn of the Dead pegged as a 79 film, but if we can find screenings in 78 I'd see the shit out of that movie. It opened 6 months earlier in Italy under the Zombie title. So the infamous Zombie series actually predates Dawn of the Dead by 6 months. Zombie 2 came out 3 months after Dawn of the Dead’s U.S. release. In the span of less than a year, Italy released “Zombie”, waited for it to become a success and then made and released a sequel where a zombie fights a shark.
