Neat idea. I might go Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Awesome movie and I think realizing how special it was on an opening night with a crowd could be pretty enchanting. Also runs a gamut of big emotions. You can go from cheering the asskicking fights to shedding tears for doomed romance.

I'd have to easily go with Gladiator. Especially since I was too young to see it, period, in 2000 and the fact it's one of my all-time favorites.

In all seriousness though, I second Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and also Gladiator.
I'd throw in Cast Away also. That would've been a fun movie to see in a crowded theater.

Premiere meaning the Hollywood gala and/or festival opening? IDK, sounds like kind of a distracting situation to actually watch a movie.
For 2000... maybe Requiem for a Dream, I could imagine that eliciting some interesting responses from people who don't know what they're in for.

I think mine might be "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". That soundtrack was such a sensation that year, it would be interesting to see peoples' faces light up during the movie or if anyone is humming on the way out.
