SnoBorderZero frankyt donnyAs we head into the All-Star break, a.k.a. when most people start paying attention to the NBA, the East is as volatile and wide open as ever. The West has been incredibly consistent and it’s safe to say we know which teams are going to the Playoffs. And yes, that likely includes the Warriors. Congrats to Steph Curry for carrying that team on his back. But tonight, the seeding took an unexpected turn. The Lakers and Clippers dropped to the 3rd and 4th seed. I doubt it’ll stay that way, but for the moment, the Jazz and Suns are the 1st and 2nd seed. That’s... refreshing to say the least. I’m ready for crazy things to happen in the post-season. My fantasy dream Finals would be the Jazz vs the Knicks... just because I want to watch the world burn.

It's been a fun year to watch so far. Feels really more open than it has in years past, which I think is in large part due to AD's injury. If this keeps him out longer, or even extends into the playoffs, someone other than Lakers can definitely come out of the West.

AD's injury certainly has shaken things up in the west. A lot of my friends still aren't convinced about the Jazz, but I think they're crazy Laker fans.
Kings play the Lakers tonight without AD and LeBron. Can Walton stave off being fired at the All-Star break? I would rather the Kings beat the Lakers AND Walton gets fired tomorrow, but can't get too greedy.

Psssh, and now we deal with super teams. The Miami Heat and the New York Knicks were quite strong that season. It was your alternative if you had “Bulls burnout.” It was the first Shaq-Kobe season of the Lakers. Yes. Yes. I know Kobe was a bench player his rookie season, but that iteration of the team made the Playoffs. Debut seasons of Allen Iverson and Ray Allen. Plus, there was the Grant Hill Pistons, the Glen Rice Hornets and the Kevin Garnett Timberwolves in the Playoffs. There was good basketball that year. And that Utah Jazz team was long overdue to make the Finals. |
