Doomsday , PG Cooper , Neverending , donny , frankyt , thebtskink , PhantomKnight , IanTheCool Alright, rather than polluting other threads with random half serious suggestions let's dedicate a place to getting to the bottom of what we're doing with this round 200, or if we're doing anything at all. We trying to pick something we all haven't seen from a list? Doing a new release, let's figure it out for real. Bear in mind we're still on Round 198 right now and don't know exactly when 200 will be or who all we exactly need to make sure hasn't seen whatever. We're going to have to find something that's relatively available to everyone and is accessible enough that it won't be too much of a tough sit.

Obviously Dracula doesn't want me included, so I'll just sit this one out.

Something that popped into my head....
So is there any movie nominated/won at Cannes/TIFF/Venice/Sundance in the past 20 years or so that our more well-versed folks haven't seen?

Dracula is anti-Sundance and indifferent towards TIFF/Venice. But yeah, we can look into Cannes. I’m sure there’s something there.

Something that popped into my head.... So is there any movie nominated/won at Cannes/TIFF/Venice/Sundance in the past 20 years or so that our more well-versed folks haven't seen? I've seen every Palm d'or winner since 1999. I have not seen the following Venice Golden Lion winners of the last twenty years: The Woman Who Left (2016), From Afar (2015), Sacro GRA (2013), Pietà (2012), Faust (2011), Lebanon (2009), Lust Caution (2007), Still Life (2006), The Magdalene Sisters (2002), and The Circle (2000) I have not seen the following TIFF People's Choice winners of the last twenty years: Where Do We Go Now? (2011), Bella (2006), and Zatōichi (2003) I have not seen the following Sundance Jury winners of the last twenty years: Clemency (2019), Like Crazy (2011), Padre Nuestro (2007), Quinceañera (2006), Forty Shades of Blue (2005), Personal Velocity (2002), The Believer (2001)

I hope Drac doesn't mind but I edited his post and added a poll. Hopefully that gets some conversation going since we just started round 199 and we're getting down to the wire.

I went through some of the AFI lists to highlight some movies I've never seen. Is there anything we can work with here? Out of those I have not seen: Private Benjamin, A Cry in the Dark, Richard III (1912), The Cheat, The Poor Little Rich Girl, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, The Wind, The Little Colonel, Beau Geste, Bataan, Intruder in the Dust, Sands of Iwo Jima, The Gunfigher, Salt of the Earth, Oklahoma!, Porgy and Bess, El Cid, Barefoot in the Park, Two for the Road, Melvin and Howard, Return of the Secaucus 7, Rambling Rose, and The Joy Luck Club Did some prelim research and believe that the following will probably be hard for people to obtain: The Wind, Porgy and Bess, El Cid, Melvin and Howard, Return of the Secaucus 7, Rambling Rose. The rest should at least be available as a streaming rental in the United States (can't vouge for Canada or elsewhere, and I'm assuming that JustWatch.com is right about this). So, exclude all of those and you're left with: Private Benjamin A Cry in the Dark Richard III (1912) The Cheat The Poor Little Rich Girl The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1921) The Little Colonel Beau Geste Bataan Intruder in the Dust Sands of Iwo Jima The Gunfigher Salt of the Earth Oklahoma! Barefoot in the Park Two for the Road The Joy Luck Club Anyone seen any of those?

Beau Geste and Salt of the Earth are the only two titles that might give us Canadians some issues. But this does give us a lot to work with. More than I expected tbh.
I know The Gunfighter got a Blu-Ray release from Criterion if that's incentive for anyone.

Sands of Iwo Jima is also one of my dad's favorite John Wayne movies. We should watch it and write essays on how much it sucks and email them to him.
