The "Let's Figure Out Film Club Round 200" Thread

I'd be down for Gregory Peck as well.

Two for the Road can stay in my "rainy day and there's a Hepburn movie I've never seen" pile if we don't go that way.

I know when Albert Finney died last year, Two for the Road was usually one of the first movies brought up in memorial articles. Frank Conniff especially spoke highly of it.

I was going to watch it that week but...yeah. Don't ever hold me to a schedule.

I'm in for Avengement

We (I) have already decided we are watching Tremors.

Will vote yes, not a perfect choice but if it will resolve this damn thing I will be happy.

Why we watching some old ass movie when there’s plenty of new options. Why is Dracula so hell bent against Mank? You got two months before the Golden Stake Awards and you haven’t left the house in 7 months. This your chance to kill two birds with one stone.

Because everyone is going to watch Mank anyway.  The point of the film club is to direct people toward things they otherwise wouldn't see.  

Then let’s just watch Fatman then. Y’all weren’t gonna watch that anyway. Let’s be real. Instead you’re pushing for Gunfighter, a movie you were gonna watch on Criterion, regardless of the Film Club.

To be fair, the way to get interest from me is to say "Hey, we watch a movie." The way to lose interest from me is to say "It's the new Hunger Games..." "Bitch, I'm out."

I'd watch Fatman.

Fatman is too middling if we're looking at a silly suggestion. If we were gonna go absurd I'd want to be full-on absurd and watch something crazy like Zardosz. But if we wanna watch something that none of us have seen, that isn't something a bunch of us we're already planning to watch, and actually has the potential to be good, I think The Gunfighter would be a good choice. Especially since while it's not that hard to find weirder foreign language stuff none of us have seen, the chances of these picks being enjoyable for everyone are kind of low. Like, I'm excited to eventually see Jeanne Dielman, but a three and a half hour French non-narrative movie about a woman engaging in the mundane life of a housewife does not sound like a fun film club pick.
