Haven't listened based on friends' negative opinion -- "it didn't click." Oddly enough, we both love Deep Purple under Gillan. It's definitely not as good as the others or as Deep Purple's classic work, but it's neat. If we’ve learned anything it’s that you hate Tony Martin.

John Lennon. I am....not a fan.
But I guess if I had to pick a song that's stupidly, annoyingly catchy I'd have to go with this.

Working Class Hero would probably be my favorite Lennon solo song, like Mother as well as a sort of primal scream of a song. Not terribly impressed by much of his stuff after the Imagine album, dude kind of fell off at a certain point but I suspect he would have made a comeback eventually if not for the murder.

I suspect he would have made a comeback eventually Double Fantasy was the comeback. Remove the Yoko songs and it’s a great album. Just Like Starting Over. Cleanup Time. I’m Losing You. Watching the Wheels. Woman. Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him. All great songs. thebtskink needs to do a proper Music Club.

Double Fantasy was considered to be something of a flop when it first came out, then when he died it sprung to the top of the charts and won the Grammy, had that not happened it likely would have been viewed as another Yoko filled curiosity that would only be re-assessed years later.

Double Fantasy was considered to be something of a flop when it first came out, then when he died it sprung to the top of the charts and won the Grammy, had that not happened it likely would have been viewed as another Yoko filled curiosity that would only be re-assessed years later. Just Like Starting Over was a Top 10 single, in both the US and UK, prior to Lennon’s murder. People weren’t gonna support an album in which half the track listings are songs by Yoko. Woman had already been selected as the follow up single while Lennon was alive. That would have been a hit too. Lennon was on track to end up like 80’s McCartney. Hit singles but mediocre album sales. Knowing you, you probably hate Woman, but in 1980, that very year, while Lennon was still alive, this was a #1 single by Paul McCartney: You’re gonna listen to Double Fantasy and tell me there’s no hit singles or that Lennon was somehow lagging behind McCartney? Any Beatle fan would consider Double Fantasy a success. The songs are good (debatably great) and Lennon would have gotten better as he challenged himself and gotten more comfortable in the 80’s landscape. David Bowie. Elton John. Queen. Peter Gabriel. Phil Collins. These UK acts from the 60s/70s found success in the 80’s. I think Double Fantasy was a stepping stone for Lennon to follow in their tracks.

The Cold Turkey guitar/vocal mix is the balls, but they went way too low on the bass.
They have completely ruined the song because the end is an improvement

I don't know much of anything Fleetwood Mac has made outside of the Rumors album and the self-titled album that came before it. I'll go with "Landslide" as my favorite Nicks song, "Go Your Own Way" as my favorite Buckingham song, and "Don't Stop" as my favorite McVie song if only because it makes me think about Bill Clinton.
