I can't find a vintage review thread for Memento. I feel like 99.9% of that movie was discussed at SuperHeroHype when Christopher Nolan was hired to write and direct Batman Begins. Oh well. Here's Equilibrium:

I finally got a chance to see this and it's f---ing cool. It has the style of Dark City & The Matrix and makes references to Fahrenheit 451 & 1984. Like everyone else on the internet, I highly recommend it. You can either rent it at Blockbuster or watch it on Showtime. (LOL. Blockbuster.)

This movie has nothing to do with The Matrix in content. It has a similair look but it has its own style. The only comparable thing is the rebellion and some action sequences but I wouldn't compare this movie to The Matrix since it is in a totaly different category. It's also a bit mix of Gattaca and Minority Report.

It's funny how the villains contradict their message. They want to stop war and violence by starting a conflict with art collectors and murdering them in cold blood. Then you have Taye Diggs walking around with that smirk on his face. By the way, that scene where Christian Bale shoots the TV screen and says "I'm coming" is easily one of the most badass movie moments ever.

I always thought Equilibrium was pretty badass. I never completely understood why it's considered to be one of Christian Bale's worst films. 37% on Rotten Tomatoes, constantly slammed by critics....I thought it was a really fun watch.

The Internet was in love with Christian Bale from 2000 till 2008. American Psycho, Equilibrium, The Machinist, Batman Begins, and The Prestige were God's gift to the Internet in those days.
I know that's hard to believe in 2013 after Bale has become a laughing stock because of his Batman voice in The Dark Knight and his over-acting/anger issues in Terminator Salvation but eventually all great actors become a joke. It happened to Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Johnny Depp. We put these people on a pedestal and then knock them down. However, their great performances are preserved on film for future generations to enjoy.
