PhantomKnightI’ll let IanTheCool nominate Rogue One if he wants. For now I’ll go with... James Cameron’s Avatar. The technical filmmaking is too high to ignore. Plus, we’ve already selected movies that aren’t as good as this. For all the shitposting and memes that get spread around the internet, Avatar is not actually a bad movie. I wanna support a comedy, and there should certainly be at least one Apatow movie in here, but Tropic Thunder should have been selected ages ago. All these dramas that Dracula/ PG Cooper keep pushing, I bet you they don’t even rewatch them. But Tropic Thunder, we’d all stop and watch it if channel surfing. So much gold nuggets in here.

Spirited Away - this might be the ship I go down on for this thread but so be it. Spirited Away is already revered as a classic in regards to animation and is also one of the only examples of an unbridled 2D animated movie thriving in the 21st century. If we're talking movies with staying power, Spirited Away is going to hold up over time. Shit, it already has over the last near twenty years beautifully.
The Handmaiden - deliciously entertaining, twisted, and surprisingly sincere. This movie rules.

Nothing against Spirited Away but going outside the democratic process arbitrarily and for no reason is unwarranted and undermines the integrity of the project. If we're left with one open slot at the end we can just run a last round where we vote for one last movie. |
