give me the strength to avoid responding "lol, suck my dick" to Neverending on this forum. Let me speak your language. Twice in this thread I've mentioned Minority Report and no one has blinked. Meanwhile... Annihilation, Blade Runner 2049 and Gravity have already been voted in. You're gonna tell me, with a straight face, that 5 years from now, you're not gonna look at this thread and say, "um, guys, we kinda forgot about Minority Report." You know, Minority Report. Arguably the best Steven Spielberg movie of the 21st century. One of the Top 10 Science-Fiction movies of the 21st century (so far). That Minority Report. You nominated it once, extremely early in the process when we were still voting things on two or three at a time. Put it this way. I'm on record thinking Minority Report was the tenth best film of the 2000s, at that point in the voting I had to use my votes on movies that were in the top fives of my respective decades lists. Had you nominated it a few rounds later it would have almost certainly gotten my votes. Only reason I haven't re-nominated it myself was because I had a hunch someone else would eventually.

We going over a hundred right then we will eliminate movies that don't make the average on the final ballots?
Gotta say one hour photo prob doesn't have a chance.

one hour photo prob doesn't have a chance. I’m not saying One Hour Photo should be inducted. I’m simply providing options. We’re all voting based on memory since no one here has rewatched the vast majority of these movies. Having some discussion should be an integral part of the voting process. Blade Runner 2049 was voted in without one single person asking, “is this really the Denis Villeneuve movie we wanna vote on?” Prisoners? Sicario? Are those really worse than Blade Runner? Isn’t that a conversation worth having? PG Cooper is Canadian for crying out loud. Why isn’t he/us talking about Incendies? Is Incendies worse than Blade Runner? Is Incendies the best Canadian film of the 21st century? Or is there something else worth considering? These are all questions that should have been asked before anyone voted for Blade Runner. Not that I’m necessarily shitting on Blade Runner. It’s just an example. Y’all voted in 12 Years a Slave (the White Jesus movie) which is just ridiculous in my opinion. So don’t be personally offended about Blade Runner. Just an example.

You know I'm with you on this, there's a lot of movies already included that I wouldn't even stop on if I passed them on tbs (lewyn davis on a rewatch... Ain't it). But thems the breaks. Like I said we need to go more than a hundred to so we have some wiggle room for later adjustments. Fully on boars for crank being included though.

Sicario and Prisoners are definitely worse than Blade Runner 2049. What makes you say that? Prisoners is a much more emotionally powerful movie than Blade Runner. And Sicario is a much more effective thriller than Blade Runner.

Personally would have been fine blanking Villeneuve altogether. The fact that zoomers treat him like their Christopher Nolan is weird to me.

I would've been pushing for Arrival more so far if it hadn't been up against a bunch of other movies I think are slightly stronger. Sicario, though, I'll definitely vote for as I think that's Villenueve's best of the 2010's.

There’s no argument for Arrival cause the ending is stupid. If people want to vote it in, I’m not necessarily opposed to it. 99% of that movie is excellent. But it’s certainly weaker than Blade Runner. At least as a blanket statement. I have no doubt that Arrival is a billion times more rewatchable than Blade Runner.

Incendies is alright, but not top 100 material.

And Sicario is a much more effective thriller than Blade Runner. Prisoners is well-made, but little more than a hokey mystery story that takes itself way too seriously. For all its grim tone and violent depiction of torture, I don't think it has much to really say. You say it's a way more emotional movie than Blade Runner and maybe that's true of your experiences, but it isn't to mine. Prisoners kept me engaged in the theater and then I promptly forgot about it, Blade Runner 2049 was moving and even an inspiration despite the squalid portrait of its future.

I loved Incendies when I first saw it, but I haven't seen it since my first year of undergrad and it hasn't necessarily stuck with me all that strongly.

Sicario, though, I'll definitely vote for as I think that's Villenueve's best of the 2010's. I was the biggest critic of Sicario in 2015. That was probably my Joker that year. But it’s a movie I continually go back to. The script is faulty. No doubt. But it’s a masterclass in filmmaking and Villeneuve outdoes Nolan at his own games. I chuckle at PG Cooper saying it’s worse than Blade Runner, a movie plagued with pacing issues.

I loved Incendies when I first saw it, but I haven't seen it since my first year of undergrad and it hasn't necessarily stuck with me all that strongly. I watched Jarhead in college and then forgot about it. I rewatched it this year and it holds up phenomenally well. Sometimes a rewatch doesn’t hurt. It’s why I brought up Black Hawk Down. I haven’t watched it 20 years, but who knows, it might be brilliant.

I've never denied that Sicario is well-made, but like Prisoners, Villeneuve is applying the most serious and somber tone to material that isn't nearly as smart it thinks it is. "The world is fucked and to fight monsters you must become a monster". Yawn. You have a film that wants to be this incisive look at the drug wars but also gets a bit of a "fuck yeah" itch in its pants when Benicio del Toro starts murdering drug lords.
