Blade

Blade: Trinity's challenger is going to conquer it. Even if Blade 3 were one of the best superhero movies of all time, it would still have trouble.

Superman Returns's is interesting. I'm very curious about that round.

Ian's getting feisty, time to drop the Ghist Rider 2 on him.

This list is chronological, so Ghost Rider: Spirit of Failed Soft Reboot is a long way off.

Thought about postponing the next round just to spite Ian, but nah.

Superman III
This is a case where I find both movies frustrating, but watchable.  I find Superman III's highs far higher than Blade's as it has fun spectacle while Blade's action looks very choreographed (the fight between Blade and Frost at the end is hilariously bad) and Stephen Norrington is a very bland director.  But I also don't think Blade's lows are as low as Superman III's, which can get obnoxious at its worst.  Blade's failing is that it's pretty drab and boring, and say what you will about Superman III, it aint drab and boring.  What the vote came down to is the question of "Which would I watch right now, if I had to chose?" and without hesitation I responded "Superman III, without a doubt."  So that's where my loyalties lie.

Ross Webster asked his underlings to kill Superman, and they couldn't do that one simple thing.  Blade could, though.  With his new Kryptonite formula, Blade made Superman's head explode just like everyone else's, giving Supes his first true loss of the tournament.

Story:  Kara Zor-El, cousin of Kal-El/Superman, lives with Kryptonian survivors in the transdimensional Argo City.  But when Argo's city powering relic, the Omegahedron, is blown out into space, it lands on Earth and Kara leaves the city to retrieve it.  The Omegahedron is retrieved by a woman named Selena, who uses it's power to become the most fearsome witch the planet has ever seen.  With Superman off-planet, Kara becomes Supergirl to combat Selena.

Pros:  Supergirl is hot.
Cons:  This movie is not.

Story:  A school for people with naturally formed superpowers, called Mutants, takes in Canadian drifter Logan and runaway Marie after they are attacked by the Brotherhood of Mutants, a terrorist organization for Mutant rights led by Magneto.  The school's teachers/underground protective team, the X-Men, try to deduce what Magneto has planned for these seemingly random Mutants.

Pros:  Proves that fantastical characters from funny books can provide the basis for compelling drama, something most superhero movies lacked at the time.
Cons:  Directed by a rapist.
