Let's settle this once and for all: DC vs. Marvel Tournament

Michael Shannon is maybe my favourite part of the movie. "Where did you train? On a farm?"

You know who else a great villain?

Which is what made BvS and Justice League doubly disappointing.

Ben Affleck is the best part of those movies.

Not defending him in any way, but I don't think Jesse Eisenberg's performance as Lex Luthor can be characterized as a generic afterthought.  If nothing else, he sticks out like a sore thumb.

And let's not forget Doomsday. That character only works as the catalyst for a story. Making him a climactic end boss was a deeply misguided choice.

X-Men:  First Class
Man of Steel is the only Zack Snyder movie other than Watchmen I get a legit enjoyment out of.  It's flawed, but it has good intentions on display.  I can name some flaws in X-Men:  First Class too, including some casting choices that I......intensely dislike, to put it simply.  But the good casting choices save it and make the movie work, especially James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.  If the increasingly worse "decades" X-Men movies are worth watching for any reason, it's for them.  And they're at their best here and genuinely make the movie exceptional.

Story:  After Marvin believes he is being watched and fakes his own death, Frank and Sarah find themselves the targets of corrupt FBI Agents who are looking for him.  After Frank, Sarah, and Marvin go on the run, they find themselves in the crosshairs of top assassin Han Chi Bai also.  This group of R.E.D.s must go through more of their rolodex of fellow retirees to help them survive and figure out why everyone wants them dead.

Pros:  Ehhhhhh...it's fine I guess.
Cons:  I'll be honest, I don't remember much about this one.

Story:  During World War II, a super soldier serum finds a test subject in weakling with heart Steve Rogers, who is determined to serve his country in one way or another.  The serum turns him into a large, muscular male specimen, but the Nazi subsidiary Hydra ensure that another super soldier cannot be created by assassinating the creator, Dr. Erskine.  Initially having trouble with the Army taking him seriously, Rogers eventually leads the charge on a mission to save American captives at a Hydra base.  With several of the rescued POWs acting as his "Howling Commandos," Rogers takes the name "Captain America" and wages war on on Hydra and it's leader, the Red Skull.

Pros:  I once watched this with one of my bi-lady friends who had never seen it before, fell in love with Hayley Atwell, and constantly referred to her as her "Future wife."  I'd also let Atwell have her way with me.  But I'd also let Chris Evans have his way with me too.
Cons:  Weakest of the MCU Captain America movies...but Jesus, that still makes it pretty fucking good.
