Let's settle this once and for all: DC vs. Marvel Tournament

Punisher might be the "better" movie but Batman & Robin is the more memorable one. I can't tell you a single scene or character from the Punisher movie but I can recite every scene from Batman & Robin and I fucking hate that movie.

The Punisher, I guess.

But Batman & Robin is more enjoyable, even if it's worse.

I love Batman & Robin unconditionally, and it is in many ways the most enjoyable movie in this tournament, but there are some days where common sense needs to win out.  If Batman & Robin were going up against Punisher '89, Batman & Robin would win my vote easily.  But Punisher '04 is in many ways better at being a crappy 80's action movie than the actual 80's Punisher movie, so I'm going to give it props for that.

Story:  After a state of the art sonic weapon test goes awry, leaving Susan "Sparky" Sparks crippled, Nathaniel Burke is discharged from the army for causing the accident and John Henry Irons resigns, not wanting anything to do with weapons anymore.  Irons and Nathaniel both find themselves on the streets of Los Angeles, Irons to seek comfort in family and friends and Nathaniel to sell the technology on the streets.  When Irons discovers that street gangs are using the sonic weapons to rob banks, he teams up with the now-wheelchair-bound Sparky and junkman Uncle Joe to create a knight-in-shining-armor crimefighter known as Steel, who hits the streets with his own tech to find the source of the weapons.

Pros:  Say what you will about this cheesy movie, but it has a big heart.
Cons:  Putting this movie up against its challenger is the definition of "unfair."

Story:  While struggling to juggle his private life with his public role as Spider-Man, Peter Parker finds his powers starting to grow weaker and he questions whether or not he can continue to fight crime.  This couldn't come at a worse time, as Dr. Otto Octavius's failed experiment leaves his wife dead and put New York at risk of being destroyed, and Octavius is desperate to make sure his life's work is not in vein.  With four mechanical arms now grafted into his spine, Octavius raids the city looking for any means to complete his work.

Pros:  Quite possibly the best superhero movie ever made.
Cons:  Putting this movie up against Steel is like leading a calf in to a slaughterhouse to make veal.

I unfortunately haven't seen Steel.  However I did watch this which I think is about all I need.
