Damn. Alright, folks...I'm in Hail Mary mode right now. Any two people who vote for Truman this round get two of my votes for next round. I realize that'll essentially take up all of my votes for next round, but I'm so close with Truman.
C'mon, guys. Help a guy out.

Phantom, if I nominate Heat next round I’ll trade you a Heat for a Truman Show vote.

You voted for it on your initial ballot on page 40 and as best I can tell never traded that away, so your vote should already be among the six voters we're already counting for it and can't really increase its total this round.

Alternatively, if I could somehow get any current Truman voters to back it again next round...

Basically I traded a vote last round, if he voted for Bride of Frankenstein last time I would vote for Truman Show this time. I’m wondering since I voted for Truman Show and it’s possible it’s not going to make it in, does that fulfill my voting obligation? Or am I voting for it until it gets in? I’m happy to keep voting for it but if I can wrangle a vote for Heat in the meantime I’m all for that too.

Oh, well I've been assuming that all these gentleman's agreements we make with each other just extend to the next round unless specified otherwise. Ultimately it's between you and Phantom.

Unless, of course, two more votes make it in under the wire this round.

Okay here's what I'll propose. If PG Cooper will agree join me in this, the two of us could drop out votes for Alien, thus leaving it with six points and tying with Truman Show for third place and allowing both movies on the list. This would be null and void if someone else shows up and throws off the balance and Alien needs our votes back to get on. In return you provide you promise to support one film to be determined for each of us in the next round. PG Cooper, if you go in on this with us it will not affect our Manchurian Candidate for Alien agreement.

Truman Show both predicted and satirized the obsession with reality TV, but works on so many other levels. There's themes of God vs. Man and paranoia also in there and explored just as effectively, plus it's low-key a great science fiction story when you go back, watch and remember how it was that Ed Harris's Christof started the whole experiment. But mostly focusing on the reality TV angle, it's a film that's become all the more relevant in the years since it came out.
Definitely worthy of a Top 100 placement in my book.

So, the current tally -- before the potential switch -- seems to be:
Manchurian 9 Alien, BTTF 8 Truman 6
Just so I'm clear, how would someone "throw off the balance"?

Well, for example, if we were to switch the vote to Manchurian 9, BTTF 8, Alien/Truman 6, but then someone comes out of nowhere and votes for Truman and three other random movies leaving it Manchurian 9, BTTF 8, Truman 7 and Alien 6... then we'd nullify (or renegotiate) the deal because it would mean Alien loses rather than tying for third.
