I love Inception and I love it as an action movie but Fury Road aims to push the genre to its limits, not only relaying most of its story and characters through its set-pieces, but also just offering so many inventive and exciting set-pieces that somehow manage to get bigger and more exciting as the film goes. A lot of the pleasures of Inception come fron the dialogue, from hearing the characters talk the sci-fi concept. The action and great filmmaking were enough to bring it this far, but if we're talking avout the finest achievement in action filmmaking this decade, it's Mad Max.

Okay, so I see the argument on both sides. As straight up high octane action, Fury Road is a masterpiece. Its hard to argue that. Now, I hate genre pigeonholing, bu I would probably classify Inception as action above all else also. And I like Inception better, but barely. They are both strong contenders. Ian, I am taking this as a vote for....? |
