My argument for Inception is that Doomsday doesn't want it and PG Cooper won't admit The Three Stooges Go Around the World in a Daze is a better action movie than Fury Road. I love trolling Doomsday as much as the next guy, but this is one time to put our differences aside. Not sure you understand how wonderful it will be to make Dracula watch Riki-Oh

I'm going to have to make a verdict soon. I don't want to, but I will.

I suggest PG Cooper puts it out to his youtube subscribers. Let them vote for the winner.

In a decision that will upset half of us (myself included), and make the other half happy (Doomsday), the final verdict is in. The final has been up 3 days, and the last 3 pages are primarily back and forth, nonsensical discussions. As much as I love it, after 2 months, I just want this to end so we can move on to the next tournament. With that being said, and taken into account Godzilla's decision to retract their vote, I am crowning the winner of the Best Action Film of the Decade to.... MAD MAX: FURY ROAD
I am happy we had such a competitive, spirited final that went down to the wire. There were a handful of matches this tournament that were neck and neck, so It was great to see the Finale head in that direction after a somewhat lackluster Final Four.
I appreciate everyone voting and keeping this thread going. We will move on to the next tournament shortly.

Also, thank you for putting this together. It was a ton of fun, and I seriously hope we can schedule an Avengement watch party.
I will host if no one else will. We'll just have to reset it every 45 minutes cause I'm not paying $150 for educator-version Zoom.

No kidding, thanks for putting this together, it was a lot of fun.
We should do a Battle of the Battle Threads, Dracula’s vs. donny’s.

A quick follow-up on the next idea as well. I won't go in much detail now, but safe to say, I had been going back and forth the last couple ideas of what would follow this. I'll start by saying I won't be doing the Best Action Films of the 2000's, at least not yet. Safe to say that I will revisit this later on, but for now I want to do something else.
I thought of continuing the Best of the Decade idea with my favorite performances of the decade, and while I want to do this one, I need to do some more thinking on who I want to put in, and how many performances. It will most likely be beyond the traditional 64. After putting that aside for the time being, I started thinking about more film based tournaments. It was back and forth between another themed idea, such as Best Action movies, or more of a random list of films, based off ones I watched during quarantine.
Ultimately, I settled on doing another theme, as it sort of helps me narrow my options down and the planning becomes a little more organic. The theme for this tournament will be The Franchise Film tournament based off of, you guessed it, existing Film Franchises that have a minimum of three movies or more. Ideally I want to select franchises that have closer to 4-5 films minimum, but depending on the numbers I need to complete the bracket, I will allow a trilogy.
I'll quickly explain some of the decision making on how I view the franchises for this as well. To make things easy, I won't be splitting up these franchises that have had reboots, or aren't apart of some original canon. There won't be the Christopher Nolan Batman versus the Burton/Schumacher renditions. In this tournament, they are all under the same roof. Same goes for franchises like Alien or Lord of the Rings. I won't split Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit up, and I will count the two Promethus movies.
For the first go round, we have 8 different franchises, and while I will the keep the other 7 a secret, I will tell you the main one, in terms of numbers will be The James Bond Franchise. The Bond films will be spread out evenly on both sides of the bracket. As for the rest, they have for the most part been assigned to one side of the bracket or the other. I am still working on the final version of the bracket, so there could be some slight changes in that regard.
That is it for now. Again, I appreciate everyone's voting thus far along with the lively discussion. I hope to see it continue.

If it makes you feel any better, I appoint you as the head of the Supreme Court. Didn't Ian just do this? The best performance would be more interesting. I know, but I still need more time for that. And I guess its similar to Ian's, but I think different enough. And also, I have the franchises picked and the bracket almost done, so I think that's what's next.

I’ve heard from people who try to screenshare Zoom movies with friends is that there’s significant lag and stuttering.

Alright folks, we'll get the new tournament started with a little afternoon matinee. Again, this tournament is focused on finding the best individual film of 64 choices from 8 different selected franchises. As mentioned, James Bond is the big player in this edition, with it's 24 films split across each region. The 7 other franchises have been placed accordingly, and you will slowly but shortly see them all revealed.
Hope you enjoy.
