I also saw the Paul WS Anderson Three Musketeers. It was exactly what you think it is.

The 1993 Three Musketeers holds up. It knows exactly what kind of movie it is and leans into it.

Speaking of movies that SnoBorderZero loves, remember Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow? “Let’s make a throwback to 1940’s serial but do it in George Lucas CGI style.” I hated this fucking movie on principle. But— everything deserves a second chance, right? Well, this movie is ugly as shit. Doomsday’s VFX reel from 2009 look better than this.

A PG-rated 1940s dogfighting movie with that lame cast was a no for me, even in 2004 when I was watching almost anything. The VFX for it looked bad in 2004. Overblown look to everything, which is a major no-no when the CGI isn't great. You're supposed to hide that shit in darkness/rain, not bloom the fucking shot to showcase what a disaster the effects are.

Hey, SnoBorderZero, have you watched The Long Goodbye (1973) and Farewell My Lovely (1975)? Both Philip Marlowe movies. One has Arnold Schwarzenegger playing a henchman The other has Sylvester Stallone playing a henchman The big dude from Superman II is also in Farewell My Lovely. You know, the big dude in General Zod’s posse. And Joe Spinell

PG Cooper, The Big Sleep (1978) is no bueno except for Candy Clark’s two nude scenes. The HD version is excellent. Get your Candy Clark fapping when you can.

I've seen The Long Goodbye. Very good movie, loved how it spins the idea of noir around by trading dimly lit cityscapes for sun-drenched beaches and hippies but makes it all work remarkably well.
Haven't seen the other one.

Very good movie, loved how it spins the idea of noir around by trading dimly lit cityscapes for sun-drenched beaches and hippies but makes it all work remarkably well. Haven't seen the other one. Long Goodbye never lived up to the opening scene of Marlow feeding his cat. Except for mustached Schwarzenegger of course. Farewell My Lovely starts off a bit slow but picks up when Stallone shows up. No joke. 57-year-old Robert Mitchum gets doped up at a whore house and shots up the place while Stallone bangs a teenage girl. Shit went 0 to 60 in a heartbeat. The Big Sleep (1978) is straight up trash but the HD transfer is top notch. Someone at the lab was a Candy Clark fan.

You didn't like the ending?
I thought Gould's interpretation of the Marlowe character was very interesting. He was so far removed from the Bogart version in The Big Sleep, operating as quirky and sort of air headed but still insightful.

PG CooperYou didn't like the ending? The ending is good but it’s no cat scene. He’s good as a Jew version of the role, but the character becomes too passive for huge chunks of the movie. It’s as if Robert Altman was more interested in other things. Here’s Stallone in Farewell. Naked chick and all.

Yeah, the ending is the best part. It's great because Marlowe up to that point does seem a little bit aloof and more acquiescing the case than solving it. He fits with the '70s vibe in LA and gets tangled with the equally "chill" beach dwellers that he tries to solve the case around. But then, when he realizes he's been betrayed by the friend he's stood loyal towards this whole time, when his seemingly most important code as a person is violated, he kills him. Awesome.

The Kitchen (2019) is hilariously bad. It’s not quite Gotti since it lacks a Crazy Person factor, but it’s in the neighborhood. Unrealistic. Cliche. Soundtrack that makes no sense. How did Playing with Fire and Jexi overshadow this in 1godzillafan’s mind.
