Quarantine Thread (timekillers)

In D/FW, restaurants and stores are open if they choose to be.  A lot of restaurants have their dining rooms open, but others are still take-out or delivery only.  No bars, no theaters, no sports leagues.  Anyone out in public is required to wear a mask.  

I work at a municipal courthouse which is open.  Before all this started, we were in the process of launching a virtual courtroom system to handle arraignment at the jail, so that the Judge and Deputy Court Clerk could work from the courthouse, rather than be present at the jail.  In the wake of Covid-19, the virtual courtroom system was expanded.  Defendants can now speak to a Judge about their case from home with their smart phone.  Plans are in place to move a number of in person processes into the virtual environment permanently.  Still no trials of any sort yet, since those have to be done in person.  

We actually just finished a major remodel of the various courtrooms, including one that was to be designated as a walk-in only courtroom.  Due to the overwhelming success of the virtual walk-in court, it's been decided that all walk-in defendants will be handled virtually.  I suppose we'll just use that courtroom for bench trials instead, since there's nowhere for a jury to sit in there now.

We were open for like a month (with restrictions and limited capacity) and then closed again.

It Tulsa, its pretty much a free-for-all. Everybody got bored and things reopened. Some places are practicing some sort of social distancing protocol, but a lot aren't. There isn't anywhere that has a mandatory mask policy, everyone is too afraid of the crybabies not getting their way.

Restaurants and bars are free to be open as they wish, but there is now a regulation stating that all restaurant  and bar employees have to wear masks...it was only optional before. I know a lot of restaurants either are only still doing carry out only, or have limited dining room hours. No theaters open yet (what would they show anyway?) other than the Admiral Twin, or historic drive-in...but its been showing classics and the like.

At the library, where I work, we were about to open our doors again, but we've postponed it twice, due to rising cases, and now our opening is postponed indefinitely, but we're still offering curb side services.

Rumor has it, the city is about to enact a mandatory mask policy, after the city council votes.  Our governor is refusing to make any kind of protocols mandatory, because he says that he wants to give us the choice to do the right thing. Motherfucker, if people cared about doing the right thing, we would have had such a massive surge in cases. Do your goddamned job and worry more about the people than you do your pocketbook. 

Wow, that's such a wishy-washy statement from your governor, Frizzo, giving people choice to do the right thing?! Why not put it into law for now?

Maybe the Creek Nation could intervene?

I got a week off next week.

Thinking about going to the beach for a day, mask on, all times. Safe? Unsafe? Thoughts?

Long drives and hikes only get me so far.
