That’s the theme of these videos that you and Dracula slept on The big issue with the Oscars (and awards season in general) is the distribution method. Uncut Gems, Lighthouse, etc got “snubbed” because people didn’t watch it, as our industry-insiders Doomsday and SnoBorderZero can confirm. 1. You gotta give movies breathing room. 2. Stop dumping everything at the end of the year. 3. Embrace the streaming services. Take Midsommar for example. Released in July, already on Amazon Prime. I bet if The Farewell were on Netflix or Hulu, it might have gotten nominated. It had buzz. It did well with critics awards. If it had been on streaming by, say, November, before Irishman/Marriage Story came out, people would have watched it.
