87. AmourBecause Michael Haneke's portrait of life nearing its end is as romantic as it is painful.

86. AnomalisaBecause Charlie Kaufman's bizarre exorcise with stop-motion is one of the few American animated features to be unambiguously adult and ambitious from the decade.

Is it very different from the original? It basically takes the most basic of plot synopsis and then does its own thing with it, it doesn't have the same style or tone at all.

2. Joker "Oooh, but it's so, like, recent. How can you be sure?"
Here's a thought:
Eat several thousand clams.
This was a polarising film, and that's fine. The best films usually are.
I found this to be utterly fascinating, primarily thanks to Joaquin's devastating performance, but what pushed it to this level were those last 15 or so minutes.
A perfect filmic crescendo that did justice to this most beloved of villains.

Here's a thought:
Eat several thousand clams.
Is this a British thing? Opposite of eating a thousand snails?

83. War for the Planet of the ApesBecause while none of the films are quite perfect, this trilogy is nonetheless a shining example of what franchise filmmaking can be when made with a bit more care and craft.
