Top Ten Buddy Cop Flicks of the Decade 2. The Nice Guys - a stone cold classic of the genre. Just sucks it ran into a buzz saw at the top of the list. Great chemistry from the leads, fantastic story, some nice set pieces, good side characters and gosling does his best work of the decade opposite a great straight man in Crowe. 1. The Other Guys - this right here is a masterclass in the genre. Just when we all were writing off will ferrel as a has been he comes and delivers this. Absolutely stunning use of the montage (key component to any buddy cop flick) with great music, excellent cast of characters (Keaton steals almost every scene) and the action ratchets up while still remaining fun. And an interesting info graphic on the 08 crisis for the credits makes this both entertaining and educational. Bravo Adam McKay. Your #2 would be my #1 by a country mile, but fair play.

Ooooooo...... you were so close but at the finish line you picked the wrong "____ Guys" movie!

If I recall correctly I don't think the characters from The Nice Guys were actually cops...

4. A Quiet Place Someway, somehow, Jim from The U.S. Office crafted a masterful suspense/thriller/sci-fi/horror movie that covers what should be old ground in fresh, terrifying and incredibly tense ways.
This movie silenced a movie theatre for 2 straight hours.
Incredible craftsmanship.

88. mother!Because Darren Aronofsky's gonzo, allegory-heavy beast of a movie is both cinematically gripping and ripe for all manner of readings.

Hey, that's joincidence with a 'c'.

The main thing I remember about mother! is getting violently ill a couple hours after watching it. You say that like it's a bad thing... if anything it's just proof of how effectively visceral the movie is, like when there were reports that The Exorcist made people feint from its intensity.

Requiem and Black Swan were effective too (and Uncut Gems as well) but we didn’t get annoyed watching it. Aronofsky went too extra with mother.

Also, I got "the point" of what Aronofsky was trying to do and had enough of it by the halfway mark. Not giving him points for making me vomit.

My big takeaway from this post is that I have a chance in getting Neverending to watch Playing with Fire.

3. InceptionHow awesome is Nolan?
Let me compare him to a summer's day...
Well, he had the Inception script written in a drawer for years before he made it, before he had had any success.
We were staring at a van falling off a bridge for 45 minutes guys.
There is literally no other filmmaker on earth that is given carte blanche to make this kind of un-noted feature.
He is nitpickable, but where's the fun in a perfect movie? We need to soak it up because he may be the last of the blockbuster auteurs.
Oh yeah and this:
