Spider-Man: Far From Home - Review Thread
Fun visuals, thrilling action scenes, engaging story-telling, superb casting…..These are the making of a summer blockbuster.
It’s not better than “Homecoming” but that won’t matter, you’ll have a fun time anyway.
Mysterio was better than I thought it would be, I was genuinely surprised by this film and Jake Gyllenhaal really is a world class actor he’s villainous at times, but hilarious as well.
Definitely don’t miss this in Theaters!

Spider-Man: Far From Home delivers on all fronts. We get a good Peter Parker trying to deal with the adversity that life is constantly throwing at him. We get a solid Spider-Man story, having him face off against an interesting villain who brings something new to the table. We get a follow-up to Endgame, directly addressing the consequences of Bruce bringing everyone back. Finally, there are some fun and compelling teases for the future of Spider-Man and the rest of the MCU. Plus, we got the return of J.K. Simmons as J.J. Jameson! THANK YOU!

It was fine, but sits further down on my MCU rankings. Mysterio being kinda underwhelming was my only real issue, despite being a fairly good adaptation (maybe that's the problem?). That, and being kind of a rehash of the Vulture (whom was far better, primarily due to Keaton). Definitely a lot of plot holes with nearly all the tech stuff.
I still enjoyed it for the most part. I still say Marvel doesn't ever really make bad movies (not including Incredible Hulk). Just decent ones now and again.

Wasn't impressed, and I generally have a bit more bias for Spider-Man films since he's my favorite. It was fun, but wow the plot holes around Mysterio were astounding, and for his motivation to come out in one scene and not much questioning or harkening back to it for the rest of the movie just felt like a cheap bit of exposition for him. It was funny, fun, and charming, but left a lot to be desired for me. Definitely a step down from Homecoming, which I enjoyed quite a bit. I'll write a full review that Neverending can rip apart later today. |
