Because of the Rogue connection? Carol Danvers is not a mutant and didnt first appear in an X-Men comic.
Are you thinking about Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) instead?

I'm curious how Captain Marvel will be handled considering that Kevin Feige has publicly stated that all future solo character films after Ant-Man will be heroes who are already established as such in the MCU. Does this mean that Carol Danvers will have an origin in Avengers: Infinity War I, or that we will simply get an opening credits origin a'la The Incredible Hulk?

Wonder if they ignore her Ms Marvel days I believe Fox is the owner of that. I don't see how Fox could lay any claim to a particular alternate name of any given character. Even Carol's alias of Binary which she used during her time as a member of The Starjammers should be up for grabs. None of the various non-mutant characters the X-Men have interacted with over the years other than Deadpool have ever been claimed by Fox before. |

So late to the party but HELL YEAH I'M GETTING A CAPTAIN MARVEL MOVIE! Oh my god out of all the announcements this one has me losing my mind. Only 1326 days  ! This movie could likely include flashbacks hinting at her origins if they aren't doing origin movies anymore. 'Origin' could be loosely defined too. They might start the film with her already having her abilities, but not yet/still coming into her own as Captain Marvel though. I just need a couple moments to happen in the MCU: Carol to outrank Cap Carol and Cap to have a 'captain', 'captain' moment. |

Man, I know the royalties from the other studios helped finance the MCU, but imagine if they had those rights to Spider-Man, X-Men, and Fantastic Four still. We'd have some high quality storytelling, and the ability to do whatever they want in terms of crossover or storylines. Like for instance being able to use Skrulls in the Avengers or GOTG. I believe Fox owns as part of FF, which is why we had the Chitauri instead in the first Avengers. |

Fox can certainly have a version of Rogue who has all of Ms. Marvel's powers, but they would need to find another way to give her those powers, just as Marvel Studios has to find another way to provide Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch with their powers. Just because a studio has the rights to a character, doesn't mean they have the rights to every detail of their backstory as it relates to other characters. The Marvel Studios version of Captain Marvel won't be able to have a period in her life where she was in a coma due to an attack by Rogue, either. |

I'm still kind of hoping for Katee Sackhoff, but I'm pretty open on this one. I'm also game for Jessica Chastain. Natalie Dormer is popular too, but I think she's a little young for the part... or at least looks a little young for the part.

Emily Blunt was ALMOST Black Widow back in 2009. She was Jon Faverau's choice, but Marvel went with Scarlett Johansson because she looked better in the costume.

I haven't really seen her mentioned since the actual announcement came out. Mostly when she was actually rumored for the part. I think she may have even met with Marvel at some point.

I'm still kind of hoping for Katee Sackhoff, but I'm pretty open on this one. I'm also game for Jessica Chastain. Natalie Dormer looks young because actresses always try to look as young as possible. She will be 35 by the time Infinity War / Captain Marvel begin filming. If she does get cast, maybe she can mention that her great grandmother worked with the SSR and Captain America during WWII. Katee Sackhoff would do a great job, and now that Benedict Cumberbatch is actually up for Doctor Strange, the idea of a fan favorite being invite into a role isn't as much of a stretch as it used to be. Aside from the popularity of Battlestar Galactica, Christian Harloff over at Schmoes Knows has been championing Katee as Carol Danvers for the past couple of years. |

I'm a big fan of Katee Sackhoff, she's probably my number one choice. After that I'd want Yvonne Strahovski and I'd of course be ok with Natalie Dormer in anything. But like John said (dammit that is so weird, you are Tornado bro) I'm pretty open on this one.
