Shin Ultraman has been confirmed to be in the works for years. It's 100% real. Looks like a SyFy movie. Most Japanese movies with CGI do. Though Shin Godzilla actually had some good-looking stuff in it. |

This new trailer looks like they just took a bunch of reaction shots from Shin Godzilla and mixed them with some quickly thrown together CGI versions of Ultraman and a Kaiju. |

Shin Ultraman has been confirmed to be in the works for years. It's 100% real. Yeah, but the last trailer I saw looked a lot better than this one. This new trailer looks like they just took a bunch of reaction shots from Shin Godzilla and mixed them with some quickly thrown together CGI versions of Ultraman and a Kaiju. Considering it's from the directors of Shin Godzilla and Shin Godzilla is hugely popular in Japan, the main selling point of the film is its connection to Shin Godzilla. The fact that the cinematography and overall filming techniques look like Shin Godzilla's should be expected. I'm betting Tsuburaya and Toho are banking on this being just as big as Shin Godzilla. The CGI is bad, though they're above average for Japanese CG and they look like the early Godzilla stage shots in Shin Godzilla, so they feel very in line with what this movie is supposed to be. Bear in mind that the film doesn't come out until this summer, so there is work being done and it's likely the big money shots are still in post. Shin Godzilla's best moments had some of the best CGI I've seen out of a Japanese movie, and while the textures of Ultraman characters are different, they could still pull something good looking out. Scream Factory to release 1976's King Kong on blu-ray in May: www.shoutfactory.com/product/king-kong-collector-s-edition?product_id=7572The film was previously released on blu-ray in a limited edition by the now defunct Twilight Time. Still the only Kong film without a US blu-ray is 1986's King Kong Lives, though an original Japanese print of King Kong Escapes hasn't hit shores either. |

I'd buy King Kong Lives in a heartbeat. You and me both! I think Lionsgate owns it. They rarely, if ever, license things out, but they do have a habit of releasing random shit from their catalogue on 4K. So there's a chance! |
