It's a really good choice, and I'm excited to see this whenever it can be released.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Raimi is a good director, but is sometimes prone to giving in to his whims. Fortunately, Kevin Feige is going to be around to keep a tight reign on him.

Last time someone kept a "tight reign" on Raimi, we got Spider-Man 3. For all the shit "Emo Peter Parker" got, Raimi didn't even want Venom in the movie. That whole fiasco could have been avoided had they just let him do his Sandman/Evil Harry movie.

That whole fiasco could have been avoided had they just let him do his Sandman/Evil Harry movie. What tight reign? The only thing required of him was that he put Venom in the movie. The studio didn't tell him to put five song and dance numbers in the movie, or to have a woman in Peter's life hanging off the side of a building in the first act for the third time in a row, or have Peter's love interest get kidnapped for the third time in a row, or for the villain to accidentally kill himself at the end for the third time in a row. None of those issues were the result of sticking Venom in. I'll freely admit that forcing Raimi to use Venom was a dumb move, but Spider-Man 3 was going to be lazy and derivative anyway. The forced inclusion of Venom just made it even worse.

Franco's death scene is so bad tho (and the fight/chase scene before it). The quick cuts as they are flying through the buildings is something out of the late 80s. It was so bad.
But again, with all marvel movies, the action scenes are going to be decided by second unit directors who know what they're doing.
Raimi flicks all have a certain soapy look to them that I hope they don't let him do for this.

So much hate all of a sudden
As if the first Doctor Strange wasn’t an Inception/Iron Man 1 clone.
At least they brought in someone that could infuse some personality into the movie.

Darkman rules
Only Oz and Spiderman 3 stand out as clunkers to me, and 3 really isnt too terrible. The Samdman origin still rules.

Raimi Love:
Evil Dead - Love it Crimewave - A mess, but what a mess Evil Dead II - Love it unconditionally Darkman - Love it Army of Darkness - Love it The Quick and the Dead - Not great, but fun A Simple Plan - Love it For the Love of the Game - It's fine The Gift - Pretty good Spider-Man - Love it Spider-Man 2 - LOVE IT Spider-Man 3 - "Now dig on this..." Drag Me to Hell - Pretty good Oz, the Great and Powerful - I hate Wizard of Oz, so don't care
Crimewave is probably the worst, but it's something of a fascinating disaster. The rest are a pretty good batting average, imo

I have no argument against that.
Crimewave is certainly one of a kind.

So much hate all of a sudden As if the first Doctor Strange wasn’t an Inception/Iron Man 1 clone. At least they brought in someone that could infuse some personality into the movie. While I enjoyed the first Doctor Strange, it was certainly lacking. I think it's main problem is that Marvel/Disney was afraid of what would happen if the first movie in a franchise was too weird. They wanted to keep things simple for their initial outing, but we're past that now. Moviegoers have seen Doctor Strange do some wild stuff in Infinity War, and are prepared for whatever The Multiverse of Madness is going to throw at them. I can also see why the Disney folks would be more comfortable with Raimi than Derrickson. Raimi's notion of what makes a horror movie is more in keeping with what they're comfortable with, on the whole. Derrickson wanted to make a straight-up horror movie (which was the correct way to go IMO), but that's not Disney's thing.
