If you have an amazon prime account you can get A LOT more free shipping. Of course if I didn't have crippling boredom that leads to as much online shopping as I do I probably wouldn't bother paying for Prime. I looked at my history, and I apparently placed 93 orders on amazon in 2013. I don't have a problem, I swear.

Nah, they changed it to $35 last year. We should also set a hard date that the gifts need to be bought by. That way people aren't hitting 'Purchase' on December 23rd with the present getting there 10 days later because of holiday shipping. Maybe we all agree to buy on December 15th or something that way we all get our gifts at roughly the same time. Good idea.

Why would there be even numbers? Secret Santas don't usually pair up, do they? Then they wouldn't be secret. To clarify, my intent is not to pair people up, I was going to put names in a hat and make a random draw. From my perspective on Secret Santa, if you are going to participate and receive a gift, you have to purchase one for someone too. If there is an odd number of people that can't happen or it means someone would have to be kind enough to purchase two gifts but also receive two gifts. Its late here and I just got back from work so maybe I'm missing something but that makes sense to me.

If you had a circle of 7 people and everyone bought a gift for the person to their right, that works. Even or odd doesn't matter and if you pair people up you wont know who you're buying gifts for because if you did, then you know they are also buying you gifts.

Example: 5 people (odd number) 1 buys for 4 / 3 buys for 2 / 4 buys for 5 / 5 buys for 3 / 2 buys for 1. Five people. Five gifts. No one is left out. The only way even numbers wouldn't work is if you paired people up, which defeats the point of a Secret Santa. 1 buys for 2 / 2 buys for 1 / 3 buys for 4 / 4 buys for 3. Now 5 is alone.

Also, to all currently involved please make an Amazon Wish list and start to compile a list of items you would like Santa to give you. Okay, so do you mean make a new Wish List just for this? If so, then that works for me, since I usually send out my Wish List to anyone (friends, family, etc.) who wants ideas about what to get me, and this way, having a separate list eliminates the possibility of inadvertent duplicates.

I don't want to be too directive but an Amazon Wishlist seems to make the most sense for everyone. I think a separate list would be helpful Phantom just for gifts you'd like from a Secret Santa here. By the way can anyway share a tutorial or something on how to make an Amazon wishlist? Also if people simply want to post ideas they would like for around our price range that would work too. Amazon would make it really easy though.

If you have an Amazon account there is a tab at the top that says Wish List. When you search an item you can either add it to your Cart or add it to your Wish List. You can then go into your Wish List and 'Share This List' which will give you the link. For example: amzn.com/w/3V9Q2YWX3IGCWMake sure you add your address into the Wish List so people will know what address to send it to.

Just an idea I had but I mentioned earlier how we should maybe pick a date to send our Secret Santa gifts either as a deadline or a day where we all do it at the same time so we're all getting our gifts on the same day give or take. What would you guys think about having that day be either Black Friday or Cyber Monday? I know I said I don't go Black Friday shopping but I absolutely look at online deals over the weekend. It's a little ways out from Christmas but it would probably save everybody a few bucks. Either that or maybe we can at the very least have our Secret Santa 'assignments' and have all our wish lists done in case some of us do want to look into online deals. Thoughts?

I'm going to send out another mass email soon to see if anyone else wants to join. I'm stepping back and my only job really is to assign the Santas to other Santas. lol Think it would make a lot if sense to make some decisions around a purchasing deadline. My other thought was to close participation by end of November so that it speeds up those who aren't sure to decide if they want to be a part this year.

If you have an Amazon account just log in. When you go to an item there should be a button called Wish List. Just click that and it'll be added to your Wish List. When you click on the WL tab there's also a button that will give you the link that you can share so other people can see your list and know what to buy for you. Just make sure your address is up to date because the WL is linked to your shipping address.

Sooo, do we still have to divvy up partners somehow? Are people ahead of me on this, because I've been waiting for the go pistol.

amzn.com/w/2HWE7BKVI73YP For whoever is stuck with me. I added a little bit of everything and tried to vary my price points. While setting up my wishlist for CS! Secret Santa I discovered that you can change privacy on each wish list, so this one is only shared on here and it's the only wishlist I have that will share my address with a third party seller.

I think doc still has to send assignments to everyone.
Doc, maybe have people leave their Amazon Wish List links in this thread. That way you can send the info all at once.

Here's a quick question: I'm thinking of stuff to compile for my Amazon Wish List meant for this, but could the lists also include digital items? Like, for example, MP3 albums and/or Kindle books? Not that I'll lean more heavily on listing stuff like that, but still, items like those are well within price range and would help there be more variety on the list.
