Robin Hood: Very colorful and fun but a bit too clean cut for my tastes, would have liked a little more edge from it I guess. I would like to give it another watch though, it's been a while. A-
Clash of the Titans: Ray Harryhausen's effects are always charming and this is probably the best showcase of them, but it is kind of cheesy. Harry Hamlin sucks and I don't know what the hell is up with that robot owl. B
Cape Fear '62: I definitely used to love this movie and defend it as being superior to the remake, now I'm not so sure. It definitely has great atmosphere and some really cool performances, but it lacks some of the nuances that Scorsese added. Between the two of them you have a near perfect movie. B+

1. The Adventures of Robin Hood: Tons of fun and a historical precedent for escapist action filmmaking. Love the Technicolour, Robin is a great hero, and the supporting cast is aces. A
2. Clash of the Titans (1981): I have a lot of respect for Harryhausen's stop-motion and there are some cool moments (looking at you, Medusa) but the plot is clumsily slapped together and the hero sucks. D+
3. Cape Fear (1962): I don't think it's as stylish or nuanced as Scorsese's remake, but Robert Mitchum kills it. He makes for a scary motherfucker and owns the movie. B

Haven't seen Tombstone or Point Break. As for Rambo: First Blood Part II, I know I saw it as a kid, but it didn't really leave an impression.

Tombstone: one of the most watched movies of basic cable history. I probably know more quotes from that movie than most others. Great performances, and not too too cheesy
Point Break: not sure why some of my friends growing up liked this so much. Even as a 10 year old the performances seemed hammy. The skydiving scenes were the only part thrilling to me at that age.
Rambo II: It gave us the Gizmo parody in Gremlins II, so it can't be all that bad. And that scene where his Vietnamese girlfriend gets blasted 20+ times by a machine gun, but is still able to utter her love for Stallone before she dies? Pure comedy.

Tombstone: Unforgiven aside the 90s were not a good decade for westerns and Tombstone maybe seems better than it is by comparison. There are some good action scenes and a couple of fun moments but last time I tried watching it it wasn't holding up great. There are definately scenes in it that don't work. 3/5
Point Break: Good, but overrated. Fun performances, a couple of good action scenes but it is a stupid movie in many ways. People delude themselves into thinking it's some kind of amazing classic in order to make Kathryn Bigelow's early career look better than it was but it's better compared to Bad Boys 2 than Heat. 3/5
Rambo: First Blood Part II: Very very very dumb, but there's some good 80s actions scenes here. Probably my favorite of the Rambo movies; yes, better than that first movie that isn't really as much smarter than the sequels as people try to make it out to be. 2.5/5

I'll give Rambo III the edge over Commando. It has better production values and more balls.

Tombstone - Haven't seen. (Here comes Neverending now) Point Break - A concept that absolutely should not work but does thanks to fun performances from its leads and some surprisingly well staged action sequences. Plus, Gary Busey is Keanu Reeves' partner in it. That alone earns it a lot of cred from Neverending 7/10 Rambo: First Blood Part II - Comically bad and the worst entry in the already meh franchise. I've seen it once, don't remember anything about it, but I know if I watched it again I'd have more fodder for ripping it to shreds. 5/10

I watched 2010 within the last year or so, and enjoyed it. The plot is certainly easier to understand than 2001, but it lacks the certain something that Stanley Kubric brings to a film. Considering the way the Cold War has been restarting over the past few years, the themes are still relevant today. The cast is 80's all-star, featuring Roy Sheider, Helen Miren, John Lithgow, Bob Blaban, Dana Elcar and Keir Dullea returning as Dave Bowman.
There's a certain amount of 80's nonsense that still has to be factored in. The Indian computer scientist Dr. Chandra has been whitewashed without bothering to change his name. There's a pet dolphin for some reason, too.

The Godfather Part III - gets an unfair shake. It's clearly inferior to the first two but every movie ever made is inferior to Godfathers 1 and 2. There's a lot of good stuff in it that people overlook because the narrative is 'Godfather III is a piece of shit.' That said Robert Duvall is clearly missed and the acting is very over the top from all parties involved. Diane Keaton sucks in the movie. Sofia Coppola doesn't quite sink the movie completely but she very much deserves the ridicule she's taken on. This is what nepotism can do, nearly destroy one of the best franchises ever put to film.
Jaws 2 - I effing LOVED this movie when I was little. I liked all the Jaws movies because I was a kid and all kids are idiots but watching teenagers make out then get eaten by sharks was awesome to see. Even as a kid though I thought it was bullshit that the shark chased down a lady who was waterskiing. I did turn this on though since they put all the Jaws movies on Netflix and it's awful.
2010 - never seen.

New set. "Sequels to classics" edition. 1. The Godfather Part III 2. Jaws 2 3. 2010 I was gonna post a new set, but these three are interesting enough and didn't generate too much discussion last time. So, bump I guess.

Godfather 3: Haven't seen it in forever. When I want a Godfather fix I go to 1 or 2, and after six hours of watching them I'm usually not inclined to watch part 3. It has its moments, but I'd also rather it didn't exist.
Jaws 2: Haven't seen it since I was eleven or something, remember kind of liking it but I doubt it holds up too well. Certainly better than three or four though.
2010: Sorry, but you're not allowed to make sequels to Stanley Kubrick movies even if it's done in a somewhat competent manner.

This is an easy one. Haven't seen any of 'em.
Though, eventually, I DO need to check out Godfather Part III. I've just been putting it off cause the first two are so perfect.

It is after the nuclear apocalypse...legend tells of a man who was bound to wheelchair but by some miracle was able to walk just before the bomb hit. What's left of mankind resurfaces and wages war over the myth of this man and they await his second coming in... Dr. Strangelove 2, or How I Learned to Shut the Fuck Up and Pay Money to Hollywood
